Dude,

Just use an IP locator, you don't have to be too detailed where they are, just which country - then select that flag. That way everyones happy for which ever language - we're all super special.

The HTML for a vertical language switcher is exactly the same as for a horizontal switcher. All you need to modify is the CSS.

In our example, this CSS makes the list vertical:
#footer_language_list ul li{
 display:inline;
}

If you remove the 'display: inline' statement, it will become a vertical list.

Thanks for the tip. WPML makes it easy for you to implement your own flags. You can place a flag JPEG in the theme folder and then tell WPML to load it from there.

TIP: to avoid the issue of US-flag vs. UK flag (and others), add a rotating GIF file which shows both flags (or 3 flags).

I think I'll give this plug in a try at our new blog www.casabalboapanama.com.

Is there any IP recognition so when a Dutch users visits the site, the Dutch version of the post or page is served?
