I think you're missing the point with the languages for the language switcher.

Don't you think there should be an option to include the name of the selected language in the switcher written in the UNSELECTED language?

Imagine someone who speaks ONLY ENGLISH comes to your English/Russian website with the default (and currently selected) language of Russian.
In the switcher he sees same unfamiliar word - "Русский" - as the rest of the site. Would be much friendlier for the switcher to read "Русский/Russian" I guess.

If you want to get technical support, can you please post about that in the <a href="http://forum.wpml.org" rel="nofollow">forum</a>?

Include details about your website, PHP, MySQL and server kind and see if there may be other plugins interacting.

Installed WPML 1.5.0 and it deleted one of my featured / portfolio postings although obviously the data still existed in the db as the feature was displayed in a slider on the home page. Additionally, none of the existing media could be displayed in the admin->media page. I tried playing around with the WPML configuration to check for a different result but regardless of the settings employed the scenario did not change. Unfortunately I have to deactivate and uninstall WPML even though it is an extension that i really want, it just seems to produce unwanted affects at this stage.

The final release is not ready yet, but there's a very solid release candidate.
http://forum.wpml.org/topic.php?id=715

Please also leave feedback in the forum thread, so we have it all together.
