Sure, you can use any version you like. As far as I know, WordPress 3 will also require PHP 5.

Hi,

Tried to install the new version 1.6.0 and I discovered that it requires the MySQL 5
version.
Unfortunately my host server has a default MySQL 4.1.22.
Can I use the version 1.5.1 until they will do the upgrade in MySQL?

Just to say, this plugin is already amazing, it enabled me to localise my site so easily, I just had a few things left and this has just sorted out all my remaining issues, thank you so much for everyone you have done with this plugin!

WPML doesn’t run as a site-wide plugin. You would need to enable it per blog.

The translations are saved in the database, per blog, so it doesn’t matter what you’re translating with other WPMU blog instances.

How does this work on MU? To be more precise, is this per blog basis?

I have several blogs with different langugage and translation pairs (e.g. Finnish-English, Swedish-Finnish etc.) Obviously I cannot translate plugins in just any language, as their needs are different, while they use the same plugin repository.

After having run several large WordPress sites with complex themes and some plugins, we’ve come to realize that theme and plugin localization is a major head-ache and we’re trying to simplify it with WPML.

Feedback for the new string translation is highly welcome!
