Old translation plugins

Before WPML, we started with with ICanLocalize Translator and ICanLocalize Comment Translator.

These were pretty cool plugins. They allowed synchronizing between two different blogs running in different languages.

ICanLocalize Translator ran on the original-language blog and ICanLocalize Comment Translator ran on the translated blog.

They communicated between themselves and synchronized contents.

Of course, now that WPML is around, these plugins are no longer needed nor maintained.

WPML allows running a multilingual blog and serve contents from the same domain or from different domains per language. It’s a much cleaner and easier to use solution than running two different blog.
