Hello there, I’m a WordPress Tutor and I’m going to launch WordPress Intro Meetups from next week.
I’d like to recommend your plugin to my Meetup attendants and I wonder if getting a basic plan ($29) would give me access to the WPML affiliate program?
Hello, nice to hear you would like to recommend our plugin. WPML affiliate program should work for bloggers as well. A lot of bloggers use it, but let me double check it in our system…
Can I use my own translations when creating posts and pages? I just need the functionality of switching languages (Spanish and English) with just one click on the home page. Thanks.
Admin create the standard language in ENG and Japan, and other staff to do data entry, We not prefer the staff can edit the language.
If you mean that you want to allow the admin to add a new language, you will achieve it with WordPress regular roles and capabilities. Adding a new language is done with WPML settings. Only WordPress admins have access to plugins and their settings by default.
We are interested in this particular template http://themeforest.net/item/haze-beautiful-wordpress-theme/2485338?ref=wotheme but are wondering if it is WPML compatible can we also build a multilingual website using this template? Can you also give us some examples of websites that use that particular template in multiple languages? Is there a plugin that can be used for this template so it will support more languages?
Hi Michele, I can see here that people use this theme with WPML and the them author helps them to solve their problems. Yet the author says directly “The theme is not 100% fully compatible with WPML” and explains why.
We have a showcase showing different sites done with WPML but I cannot remember if there was one created with this particular theme http://wpml.org/showcase/
We have 5 languages to support on our site. The site has a custom theme and uses a Plugin called Visual Composer from WP Bakery (http://vc.wpbakery.com/) to manage the layout of the page content.
Is your product compatible with Visual Composer? We have numerous TLDs (top level domains) that we’re wanting to regionalize.
We’re looking to create a site with the following languages: English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Punjabi, Hindi and Tagalog (language used by many in the Philippines)
My developer does not believe that WordPress has translations for Punjabi or Hindi, and that the latest translation for Tagalog is 3.9.1. I’m not overly technical but does this mean that even if we did purchase your plugin we couldn’t get it to work for the languages above?
Also, for Arabic, how would we get the text to go from right to left (the opposite of what we do in english where it flows left to right)
Hi Bruce,
once you have your WPML installed, you will see the following languages in WPML settings -> Languages:
English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Punjabi.
But even if your language is not present in that default list, you can add it manually via WPML “Edit Languages” panel.
About translators. WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically. It is you who provides the translations or you can use our ICanLocalize service (it integrates with WPML). Even if your language is not included in that list:
ttp://www.icanlocalize.com/site/about-us/languages-we-can-translate-between/
please feel free to contact ICanLocalize and ask if they can help with your case.
Hello! I bought WPML last year and it seems that my account has expired . I get this message: “Your WPML account has expired, so you cannot download new versions or access our support.”
Would that also means that I won’t be able to keep using the plugin in my webiste, unless I buy another subscription?
Hi Ievth,
you can still use the plugins you downloaded. But without renewal you cannot ask questions in our support forum and you cannot access new versions of our plugins.
Hi, I have this website http://naturalvitamins.gr/ and my theme uses woocommerce (included, I didnt installed it). Theme and plugin is in English. I would like to translate woocommerce in Greek (dont forget it is included -> /themes/theme/plugins/woo..). How is it possible to translate woo with WPML?I need an extra plugin for it? Changing .po, .mo files doesnt work.
Are you looking to have a WordPress site only in Greek, or multilingual in English and Greek?
If you need a multilingual site, WPML is your solution. If you need Greek only, you don’t need WPML. You need to locate the Greek translations for WooCommerce and install them.
Hi, if your only need is to translate the strings provided with WooCommerce plugin to Greek, you don’t need anything extra. If you have your WordPress in Greek installed it should automatically recognize the Greek translations.
it works with WPML (CMS or lifetime subscription) to make your whole online store multilingual. Which means to run it in more than one language. For example in English and in Greek.
I need my WP multilingual. But the problem is that I want to translate everything of woo in greek. For example Add to Card button. If i go translate the strings of woo in theme its ok, but i m looking for a solution (probably wpml) that will translate everything in woocommerce without the need of string editing.
Hi Nikos, I’m not sure if I follow you. If a theme or a plugin includes po/mo files no manual string editing is required. WooCommerce Multilingual plugin lets you translate your products, products categories etc. WooCommerce string translations is a separate issue. WPML supports it as well. But you don’t need WPML to translate your wooCommerce theme/plugin dependent strings. You will need WPML and WooCommerce Multilingual plugin to manage your product translations, deal with different currencies etc.
Hello,
we have to build a multilanguage website in which the menu items are different depending on the language.
For ex. the English page has the full menu while the Polish one only has half of the items.
Is it possible to handle this situation with your plugin?
Hi Nicola, yes, this is possible with WPML. You have full control on the menu. Some of the menu items might not have their equivalents in different languages and it will not be a problem.
Hi Glen, here they are:

Dutch
English
French
German
Italian

Hey guys! Sorry but I had no other option. I just bought the WPML and when I tried to download it asked me to login. Well, how can I login if I never registered?? I just bought it!!!
Can anyone help me?? I could not post on the Forum since I have no login… 🙁
Hi there! You should have received an email with your user and password. Please check your spam folder. You can also use this link: https://wpml.org/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
to recover your password.
If this doesn’t help, it means that you made a typo in your email. If this is the case, please contact me again.
Hi Rick,
the FUNDIFY theme is not included in our theme compatibility so I cannot give you 100% warranty that you will be able to translate all theme dependent elements.
If I buy the Multilingual CMS at 79$ do you offer an upgrade to Multilingual CMS Lifetime allowing me time to test your solution before to select this final option?
I use allready morte then 4 years wmpl and i am very happy with it. But now it’s time for a upgrade.
questions
– when i buy and install the plugin shall i use any content? Must i do adjustments?
– is it possible to show all languages like in the bottom of your webpage and not in a dropdownmenu
Hi Mike,
> when i buy and install the plugin shall i use any content? Must i do adjustments?
I’m not sure if I understand this question. If you upgrade, your site should work. If you run into any issues, please ask our support forum. They will help you.
Hello, can I purchased WPML Multilingual CMS to test the installed WordPress theme to a different domain than the final domain? For example. install WPML to domain test.example.com and after testing the operation of the theme, WPML uninstall and install it on the final domain http://www.fin-web.com? Thanks
Hi Ibnu,
you can also have two separate WordPress installations one for http://www.mywebsite.com/businesone/ and the other for http://www.mywebsite.com/businestwo. Then you can use WPML for each one. You can use one WPML license for all your sites. This way you will also achieve the structure you want.
We don’t have a separate trial version but we are also the authors of Toolset pugins. And some of our Toolset demo sites (which are available for free) use WPML.
Please go here: http://discover-wp.com/
and choose one of these:
Bootstrap Real Estate
Bootstrap Commerce
they use WPML. This way you will be able to see WPML in action. Yet you will not be able to test it with your theme or at your custom site.
Dear Dusan,
thank you for your interest in WPML and your questions.
We have a fully automated process of purchasing WPML. You can pay using PayPal or 2Checkout with a credit card without having an account. Once your account is created you can edit your company data which will be displayed in your tax invoices (in your WPML Account settings).
in your documentation your talking about virtual subdirectories for different languages. What does that in mean form a SEO perspektive? Are there crawlable, unique URLs for every page in a different language with meta tags for rel=”alternate” and hreflang=”x”?

I want to make my site multi lingual mainly German and English, the site itself has a graphical auto scrolling home page with images and text. Will WPML detect what country the site is being viewed from and change the text to suit.
This will switch to the visitor’s language, if your site includes it.
WPML works great with most themes. I’m not sure what theme you are using, but if it’s compatible with multilingual sites, you will see everything translated. Please note that WPML doesn’t automatically translate your content. It’s a tool that lets you translate yourself.
Thanks, I am not a web site coder or developer, I just purchased a WP theme and after some trial and error produced what I consider a pleasing website.
I am using WP Bandit feather, which version of WPML would I need?
As the site home page is an animated slide show with text overlaid. I would like this text to change language automatically upon detection of the site visitors country.
Hi Pete,
for most themes bought at theme stocks you will need the CMS license. It includes ‘WPML String Translation’ module which will help you to deal with theme dependent strings.
About language automatic detection. WPML can only redirect your user to his/her language version (if available). Your task is to make each page of your site translation ready. I’m not sure if all ‘WP Bandit feather’ features (indlucing sliders) are translation ready. It’s not in our theme compatibility list. I tried to check this out but their support forum is closed for not registered users.
We are evaluating this plugin for potential use as standard for all multilingual sites we are developing, however it seems unclear of the current status of compatibility of Advanced Custom Fields? ACF is already a standard in our development, so it is not an option to change this.
Hello, I’m very interested to start using WPML, but I gave some concerns:
1) my site already exists in 2 languages. I’ve usied the qtranslate plugin. So I wonder if I’ll have to redo every page and post?
2) I’m using the Photocrati theme. I’ve seen that several persons have already asked if it’s compatible, but I haven’t seen an answer.
3) How much does a license cost? Photography is a hobby and even though I often work for events it’s always for free.
Hi Pat,
thanks for your interest in WPML
1. there is a plugin which will help you migrate from qTransalte to WPML. It was created by our team: https://wordpress.org/plugins/qtranslate-to-wpml-export/
2. This theme is not in our Theme Compatibility list so I cannot assure you will be able to translate all elements. Best to is to check this with the theme author.
3. $29 for simple sites, blogs, $79 for more complex pages (usually work best for sites build with stock themes) or $195 for life time, all details here: http://wpml.org/purchase/
We are a non-profit and i was wondering, the free subscription, is it the same functionnality as the 195$ package or is itlimited like the basic version ?
If we decide to go with non-profit subscription, the certificate info you need is a letterhead letter stating our mandate and non-profit organization registration # ?
Hi Denis,
yest the functionality is the same. So it’s full.
> the certificate info you need is a letterhead letter stating our mandate and non-profit organization registration # ?
That would be good. Anything which proves you’re a non profit organization is welcome.
Agnes – both possibilities require credit card – I do not have one. I asked about buying WPML through PayPal without credit card – using standard method. Is it possible?
Hi. No I can’t. When I want to proceed, I have to enter credit card data.
I can show you screenshots. I believe there is a possibility to transfer funds directly from PayPal using your e-mail address. Is it possible?

Excellent! Then, this is the plugin that I was looking for. I will definitely give this plugin a try.

Hi Philippe, that’s right. When you purchase WPML CMS for $79, you can still upgrade to Lifetime later just paying the difference.

Yes, but you will need to customize your language switcher with some CSS, this tutorial will help you:

Hello, can I purchased WPML Multilingual CMS to test the installed WordPress theme to a different domain than the final domain? Hi Roman,
Sure you can. You can use one WPML license for all the sites you are building.
Hi,
can I use the license “Multilingual CMS Lifetime” on different websites or do I have to buy one license per website?
Thanks for your answer.
Mats
Hi Mats, you need only one WPML license and you can use it for all the sites you are building.
Can I achieve this using this plugin, if so how, we planning to buy this.
We have developed two website for one same organization (two different businesses) which both are in English language.
Now the requirement is, it should be converted to WordPress and should be like as follow.
http://www.company.com (Home page will have switch for both sub sites) 1. business1.com (arabic/english) 2. business2.com (arabic/english)
How can i do this in WordPress? how to categorize both site in one WP and again how can I make two languages in each site.
I am sorry we are not live yet to show anything, working on local host
Hi Ibnu,
here you can read how it can be done using two different approaches:
http://wpml.org/2014/02/maintaining-client-sites-centrally-using-wpml-and-domain-mapping/
http://wpml.org/documentation/essential-multilingual-plugins/multilingual-site-network-with-domain-mapping/
Thanks for your guides,
But I will have only one domain, with two sub domains. i need the structure this way, it can be achieved by wpml plugin.
We have Arabic/English content, should not be auto translated. And we need the structure as follow
http://www.mywebsite.com/businesone/en – http://www.mywebsite.com/businesone/ar
http://www.mywebsite.com/businestwo/en – http://www.mywebsite.com/businestwo/ar
Thanks for your support,
Hi Ibnu,
you can also have two separate WordPress installations one for http://www.mywebsite.com/businesone/ and the other for http://www.mywebsite.com/businestwo. Then you can use WPML for each one. You can use one WPML license for all your sites. This way you will also achieve the structure you want.
Sorry Again,
your mean i need to have two WP installation for both sub site, is there any way to manage all in one WP installation.
And mainly, We have the Arabic content we don’t like the automatic translation. can this done as well.
Please clerify
And also, can we have the trial version to test before purchase? if so will it have the full functionality of the commercial version…
We don’t have a separate trial version but we are also the authors of Toolset pugins. And some of our Toolset demo sites (which are available for free) use WPML.
Please go here:
http://discover-wp.com/
and choose one of these:
Bootstrap Real Estate
Bootstrap Commerce
they use WPML. This way you will be able to see WPML in action. Yet you will not be able to test it with your theme or at your custom site.
You can also buy WPML and if it doesn’t work for you, we have a refund policy:
http://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
To have all your sites in one install, please use WordPress Multisite.
http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network
WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically. It is you who provides the translations.
Hello,
Can you send an invoice and payment instructions (SWIFT) to my company before I purchase a WPML?
Thanky
Dear Dusan,
thank you for your interest in WPML and your questions.
We have a fully automated process of purchasing WPML. You can pay using PayPal or 2Checkout with a credit card without having an account. Once your account is created you can edit your company data which will be displayed in your tax invoices (in your WPML Account settings).
Hello WPML Team,
in your documentation your talking about virtual subdirectories for different languages. What does that in mean form a SEO perspektive? Are there crawlable, unique URLs for every page in a different language with meta tags for rel=”alternate” and hreflang=”x”?
Can I create my own URL structure without WPML creating virtual subdirectories and still use the plugin to easily maintain posts in different languages?
Thanks in advance
Yves
Hi Yves,
WPML will only add language prefixes to your current URL-s. Page and post slugs will be created as usual – based on your titles but you can always change them manually if needed. The prefixes will not affect SEO. Moreover, keeping each subpage on a separate URL is what search engines like.
You have three possibilities for handling your URL stucture:
1. Different languages in directories (http://yoursite.com/ – English, http://yoursite.com/pl/ – Polish)
2. A different domain per language
3. Language name added as a parameter (http://yoursite.com?lang=pl – Polish)
WPML works well with SEO by Joast plugin – it will help you to manage meta tags.
I also encourage you to read this case study
http://wpml.org/2014/02/making-multilingual-site-ready-search-engine-indexing/
The site owner managed to achieved top Google positions for his multilingual site done with WPML.
I want to make my site multi lingual mainly German and English, the site itself has a graphical auto scrolling home page with images and text. Will WPML detect what country the site is being viewed from and change the text to suit.
WPML includes browser language detection:
http://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/automatic-redirect-based-on-browser-language/
Thanks
Hi Pete,
for most themes bought at theme stocks you will need the CMS license.

2) I’m using the Photocrati theme. I’ve seen that several persons have already asked if it’s compatible, but I haven’t seen an answer.
3) How much does a license cost? Photography is a hobby and even though I often work for events it’s always for free.
Best regards,
Pat
Hi Pat,
thanks for your interest in WPML
1. there is a plugin which will help you migrate from qTransalte to WPML. It was created by our team:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/qtranslate-to-wpml-export/
2. This theme is not in our Theme Compatibility list so I cannot assure you will be able to translate all elements. Best to is to check this with the theme author.
3. $29 for simple sites, blogs, $79 for more complex pages (usually work best for sites build with stock themes) or $195 for life time, all details here:
http://wpml.org/purchase/
HI,
We are a non-profit and i was wondering, the free subscription, is it the same functionnality as the 195$ package or is itlimited like the basic version ?
If we decide to go with non-profit subscription, the certificate info you need is a letterhead letter stating our mandate and non-profit organization registration # ?
Thanks
Denis
Hi Denis,
yest the functionality is the same. So it’s full.
> the certificate info you need is a letterhead letter stating our mandate and non-profit organization registration # ?
That would be good. Anything which proves you’re a non profit organization is welcome.
Hi!
I’d like to buy WPML – I have PayPal account, but I don’t have credit card. Is there any other way to buy it? E.g. Skrill?
Hi PE! You can purchase WPML using your PayPal. Just press ‘Buy now’ button to see the possibilities.

Agnes – both possibilities require credit card – I do not have one. I asked about buying WPML through PayPal without credit card – using standard method. Is it possible?
Hi PE, if you have a paypal account with funds, you can pay with that. No need to use a credit card.
Hi. No I can’t. When I want to proceed, I have to enter credit card data.
I can show you screenshots. I believe there is a possibility to transfer funds directly from PayPal using your e-mail address. Is it possible?
OK. Problem solved – I added one of my card and it passed. But still – you have to have credit card to buy WPML through PayPal.
