Hello,
I had a problem with the transaction with my credit card and could not choose another card or method (paypal)
Now the order is market as wc-pending. What can I do about that?
I am about to write a blog website in 3 languages – English, Traditional (Complex) Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
We do not need translation ability (we will physically translate the blog contents), but page names, menu items will need to be in different languages. Will the Blog version do it, or must we get the CMS version?
BTW – I see you have Simplified Chinese in your website. Does your WPML handle Traditional Chinese?
Hi Dieter,
blog version should be enough for a blog site. In case it turns out that you need additional WPML components you can always upgrade to CMS version paying only the difference.
Yes, WPML let you translate also page names, slugs and menu items. You can also handle Traditional Chinese with WPML. But please note, that WPML doesn’t translate your sites automatically. It is you who provides the translations.
Thanks. Just wanted to confirm one more thing (you were very fast in replying too!)
I want the 3 websites to be stand-alone. Which means the only thing they see if they click the English site, would be English menus (plus the switcher). Then it they choose Chinese, all they see are Chinese menus, etc, etc. I suppose this is the intended result of WPML?
Hello, We work for a local authority in Wales, and are developing a bilingual WordPress based site to support local families who have a child with a disability. We noticed the option to obtain a complimentary license, and wondered what sort of “evidence” we would be able to provide in order to show proof that we are a not-for-profit organisation?
We look forward to your reply as the plugin looks like a fantastic solution for us to offer our content in both Welsh and English. Diolch! Alan
Dear Alan,
any official document which says more about your organization would be welcome. Please apply with what you have and if there are some issues, the person responsible for handling this will let you know.
Hi George,
yes, the plugin will work. It is your subscription that expires, not the plugin itself. Once your plugin is uploaded to your WordPress it will be accessible there until you delete it. If you don’t want to pay each year you can extend your license to lifetime by paying only the difference. And you buy only one license and you can use it for all of your sites, it’s worth to take it into consideration as well when estimating your costs.
I’m gonna renew my subscribtion to WPML but i wanted to know if I could upgrade. i actually have the Blog version and i would like to upgrade to the CMS version but at the renewal price…. Is it something I could do ?
Hi IsabelleD,
please go to your WPML account and on the right side you will find the appropriate links. You can upgrade from Blog to CMS by paying only the difference.
Hi Joseph,
no, this is not legal. OnTheGoSystems Limited is the legal owner of the registered trademark WPML name and logo.
Any usage of WPML name and logo must comply with WPML trademark policy.
Could you please share the link to this site with me?
They run promotions that vary from country to country, obviously when new products go on the main .co.za website. This will also include Blog posts, needed to change in the different languages.
As you can see the sites are all different as they have been built separately and this is the issue. The main site is .co.za and the other websites are distributors around the world
My question is can we run all the content, pages, blogs, promotional pages from the one website, and they can easily roll out to the other websites as per above, saving alot of time and also pain as to load to different sites and to run multiple marketing campaigns in different languages, is a nightmare
Hi there,
I agree that it would be much easier to manage posts in different language from one install. With WPML you insert your post content in your mail language first and then you translate it. You can use ‘Copy from original’ feature to easy edit the content and you don’t have to do the same formatting you did once.
You could install WPML for your main site which would be in English and then export and import all the posts and pages from all other sites setting an appropriate language for them first but there is always one thing you should do manually: to say WPML which post is a translation of which (to make all needed associations). I don’t know how many posts and pages you have, if a lot, this manual work might be tedious.
Thank you for your feedback. So the process can all be run from the main http://www.esse.co.za website, then all the other websites are translated, (after the user selects language) we would just have to get those pages and feed them into the WPML plugin and it automatically feeds through to which ever site you decide. Let me know if I am making sense?
Hi Brendan,
yes, first you need to select the main site where you will install WPML and set the default language (English is recommended). Then you decide how all other sites will be accessible. You have two options here:
1. folders http://www.esse.co.za/se http://www.esse.co.za/hk http://www.esse.co.za/nl etc
2. subdomains:
se.www.esse.co.za
hk.www.esse.co.za
nl.www.esse.co.za
Then you need to import all the posts. You can do this using WordPress standard import/export tools. During this process you will be ask to set the language for imported content.
Then you will need to associate the translations. You can use ‘Connect with translations’ link (you will find it in your post edit screen).
When you buy WPML you will be able to ask all technical questions in our support forum. I’m not 100% sure if I understand your expectations correctly so please double check different possibilities with our technical support. If it turns out that WPML doesn’t fit your requirements, you can ask for a refund: http://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/

I’m interested in using this plugin for website development and have a question about automated emails.
1) If a translator gets assigned a task and is not delivering, can automated emails be sent to both the translator and editor who assigns the task at periodic intervals before the deadline?
2) Is it possible to have a specified translator automatically notified when a new original post is made? For example, when an english post is made and must be translated into french and german, can the specified translators for those languages be automatically emailed with a pre-set deadline to complete the local language versions of that post?
Hi,
yes, this is also possible but requires some custom coding. In your WPML ‘Language switcher options’ section you will find the php line you should insert in your php file. Then you should also style it with some CSS. This document can also be helpful:
Does WPML work with the classifieds plugin Another WordPress Classifieds Plugin? I’ve seen mention of it on a couple forum posts, but no confirmation if it readily works with WPML. If AWPCP does not work with WPML, are you aware of a classifieds plugin that does work well with WPML?
Hi Vito,
thank you for your question. This plugin is not in our Plugins Compatibility list so I cannot assure you it will work fine with WPML without any issues. In general, every theme or plugin that uses WordPress API runs multilingual with WPML but sometimes there are custom options introduced by a theme/plugin author that required extra adjustments to be fully compatible with WPML.
Hello,
can I buy the blog version, if needed upgrade to the CMS version and then upgrade to the CMS lifetime version – always paying the difference from $29 to $79 to $195 ?
If you buy our WPML plugin you can freely ask all sort of technical questions including the issues with migrating from qTranslate to WPML. Our supporter are there to help you and resolve your problems. If you are not satisfied with WPML you can ask for a refund http://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
There are many advantages from migrating to WPML so please don’t give up easily. You will be able to use your WPML plugin for all the sites you are building.
We are about to purchase this plug-in for our client. But we have a question. I am sorry if someone else already asked the question. We just want to make sure it meets the client’s requirements. 🙂
We don’t need the plug-in to translate the content, because the client will do the translation. But we need the feature of allowing user to select different languages. I assume this plug-in will allow to do so, right?
Hi,
thank you for your interest in WPMl plugin.
You are right, WPML doesn’t translate your contents automatically. But it provides an interface to run your site in different languages.
For company/business sites I would recommend CMS ($79) plan. It includes so called String translation module which will help you to translate various strings. Please note that you need to buy only one license and you can use it for all the sites you are building. You can always prolong your subscription to life time later by paying the difference only.
We just bought an “Multilingual CMS Lifetime” license for a customer we’re developing a theme for. We normally develop 2-5 multilingual sites a year, and always use WPML, but have never paid too much attention to the purchase page until now… but we noticed that it says “unlimited websites”… Does that mean that we are allowed to reuse the same license for future jobs, or does it just mean that this particular customer is allowed to reuse the license on his other sites (not that he has any – just to clarify)?
Hi Mikkel,
you, as the website developer, the owner of the license, can use your WPML license for all sites you are building. Doesn’t matter if you have one or hundreds customers. One WPML license is enough to handle them all.
I only require the ability to be able to support prices in 2 currencies; static, entered for each product – not converted based on exchange rate. I do not need translation for the moment.
What license would I need to purchase? It is for an e-commerce site, not a blog.
Hi there,
yes, WooCommerce Multillingual offers you two possibilities: to use static prices or to be converted based on exchange rate. It’s up to you which option you chose. Here’s the set of required plugins to run your WooCommerce site multilingual: http://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/#1
so you will need the CMS (or Lifetime) license.
Hi WPML. I purchased and set up the $30 version of the plugin on a site that I’m building. We love the plugin and would like to upgrade to the $70 version. Is it possible to pay the difference rather than purchasing the plugin from scratch?
I was asked to look at a problem with one web page running wpml 2.2.2.1. One language is showing white screen of death and my guess is the wpml 2.2.2.1 us oudated and running version 2.2.2.1. My question is what packed should I buy to upgrade it to the current version? Is the basic packed enough? I also can’t seam to be able to create an account to ask a question in the support forum. Any thoughts on what might be wrong with the site would be appreciated if it is the wpml that needs to be upgraded.
If your site shows a white screen there is an easy way to guess what plugin is behind. If you change the name of your plugin folder for a while (use ftp), WordPress will automatically deactivate it. So this way you can check if it a WPML plugin causing the issues. Please note that there might be more than one WPML plugins installed.
WPML 2.2.2.1 seems to be very old (release in April, 2011). Yes, it would be most reasonable to purchase the latest version (Multilingual CMS) and upgrade both your WordPress and WPML. If your customer’s site was using the blog version, purchasing the blog package would be enough. You will be able to ask any technical questions in our support forum once you have an active WPML subscription. Please note, that you can use the same license for all the sites you are building for your customers so buying a Multilingual CMS would be a good investment.
I would like to ask a few questions before I purchase the plugin.
1. I am trying to make my website in two languages, English and Korean with the language switcher. So I was wondering if your plugin would be compatible with my theme, “minamaze” as this was not listed in your compatibility list.
2. Also, more importantly, I wonder if you offer Korean lanugage.
3. And, when was the last update for the plugin?
Hi Rachel,
thank you for your interest in WPML and your questions.
1. Generally speaking every theme that uses WordPress API runs multilingual with WPML. But currently the themes offered in the WP marker are more and more sophisticated and offer more and more custom options. These to be translated require the presence of so called wpml config file. Some developers can create this file themselves, while for others it is a challenge. This is why we ask theme authors for their help here. When a theme author provides his/her theme with such a file your works is easy – all the theme depended strings will appear in our String translation module.
2. Are you asking about the possibility to help you with translations to Korean, like finding a professional translator? Here’s the official list of language we translate from and two. http://www.icanlocalize.com/site/about-us/languages-we-can-translate-between/ but even if we are missing a translator, no problem, just tell us your need (please use this ICanLocalize.com service directly) and we will find one.
I would like to ask a few questions before I purchase the plugin.
1. I am trying to offer my website in two languages, Korean and English, with a language switcher. So I was wondering if your plugin offers Korean language switcher and translation.
2. Also, I wonder if the plugin would be compatible with my website theme, “minamaze” as it was not listed on your compatibility list.
3. Lastly, I would like to know when the last update of the plugin was.

Hi there,
I’m interested in the Multilingual CMS version for $79.
Does the WPML plugin work after a year without the $39.00 “Account renewal per year” fee?
I’m not sure if my client will spend $39 per year to keep the plugin running.
Please let me know soon as I need to prepare the estimate.
Thank you so much!!

2) Translate custom post type with hard coded text in php file

Hi there;
I want to pay wpml but i have some questions.
I have a different teme on my wordpress website.
This is link for my theme:
http://themeforest.net/item/nouveau-multipurpose-retina-wordpress-theme/7510444
And this theme have a helpfull plugin for drag and drop page builder, take full control over my WordPress site.
Plugin name is “WPBakery Visual Composer”. This plugin provides new textfields and more on portfolio page and other page.
Can we translate all fields on this plugin and theme ? Did you know ?
Thank you for your helps.
Best regards.
Hi Cydia,
yes, in general you should be able to use WPML with different visual composers and page builders.
This tutorial will help you to understand the idea behind:
http://wpml.org/2014/06/use-visual-composers-page-builders-wpml/
Also the theme you plan to use says that it’s WPML compatible. But I cannot see it in our WPML theme compatibility list.
Hi,
I’m interested in using this plugin for website development and have a question about automated emails.
Thanks in advance!
Hi Michael,
here’s the set of possibilities as far as we speak about automated notifications:
1. Notify translator about new job:
Notify immediately
No notification
2. Notify translator manager when job is completed:
Notify immediately
No notification
3. Notify translator when removed from job:
Notify immediately
No notification
So, the answers for both of your questions is ‘no’.
I am thinking to start with a $79 CMS version. If it is good, can I upgrade to the lifetime version by paying the difference later.
That’s right. You will find an appropriate link in your WPML account. Yes, you will need to pay the difference only.
I want to include the language selector in my existing menu, is that possible? I only see options for widgets.
Hi,
yes, this is also possible but requires some custom coding. In your WPML ‘Language switcher options’ section you will find the php line you should insert in your php file. Then you should also style it with some CSS. This document can also be helpful:

In general, every theme or plugin that uses WordPress API runs multilingual with WPML but sometimes there are custom options introduced by a theme/plugin author that required extra adjustments to be fully compatible with WPML.

Hello, yes, it works exactly as you described.
I want currently using qTranslate for my wordpress site. My question is, how convenient is the migration process and how can you support the same.
Awaiting your prompt response.
Thank you.
Hi there,
it probably depends on the complexity of your site (so it is difficult to judge in advance) but in general the migration plugin
https://wordpress.org/plugins/qtranslate-to-wpml-export/
has great ratings.
If you buy our WPML plugin you can freely ask all sort of technical questions including the issues with migrating from qTranslate to WPML. Our supporter are there to help you and resolve your problems. If you are not satisfied with WPML you can ask for a refund

Hi,
thank you for your interest in WPMl plugin.
You are right, WPML doesn’t translate your contents automatically. But it provides an interface to run your site in different languages.
When you install WPML, you get over 60 pre-configured languages, ready to use.
http://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/pre-configured-languages/
you can also edit this table (via WPML’s GUI) to add your own custom languages:
http://wpml.org/documentation/support/editing-wpmls-languages-table/
For company/business sites I would recommend CMS ($79) plan. It includes so called String translation module which will help you to translate various strings. Please note that you need to buy only one license and you can use it for all the sites you are building. You can always prolong your subscription to life time later by paying the difference only.

Wow, that’s unbelievable!
I guess we’ve wasted a ton of money buying individual licenses in the past, but hey it’s gone to a good cause 🙂
Here’s the set of required plugins to run your WooCommerce site multilingual:
http://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/#1
so you will need the CMS (or Lifetime) license.
Hi WPML. I purchased and set up the $30 version of the plugin on a site that I’m building. We love the plugin and would like to upgrade to the $70 version. Is it possible to pay the difference rather than purchasing the plugin from scratch?
Hi Paxson,
yes, it’s possible and it is exactly how it works. You will find a link in your WPML account to upgrade to CMS version.

Hi there,
If your site shows a white screen there is an easy way to guess what plugin is behind.
Hi
I would like to ask a few questions before I purchase the plugin.
1. I am trying to make my website in two languages, English and Korean with the language switcher. So I was wondering if your plugin would be compatible with my theme, “minamaze” as this was not listed in your compatibility list.
2. Also, more importantly, I wonder if you offer Korean lanugage.
3. And, when was the last update for the plugin?
Thanks,
Rachel
Hi Rachel,
thank you for your interest in WPML and your questions.
If you ask about WPML support for Korean language. When you install WPML, you get over 60 pre-configured languages, ready to use.
http://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/pre-configured-languages/
But You can edit this table (via WPML’s GUI) to add your own custom languages:

3. The latest update of WPML plugin was a few days ago.
