I have an old version of WPML 3.0.1 that is currently running on a WP 4 site. I tried today to upload some images and observed something very strange – the images were rather normal 100 to 400 kbytes each. WordPress returned that some error occurred and it cannot upload. Then I noticed that my Media Library is full of identical unattached invalid images with same files and the number is really frightening – 9000 images. On my second attempt to upload one image – the same happened. But this time it failed with some error (unfortunately I didn’t copied it) which said that sitepress is using too much memory. Which basically leads me to believe that WMPL is the one to blame for this.
Now my Media Library is full of invalid images. Should I upgrade to the latest version, in order to avoid such disasters. Thanks!!!
Hi Ivan, you mean, your WPML subscription has already expired? Your question is a technical one and normally I would ask you to raise this issue in our support forum but the first thing they would probably ask you to do will be to upgrade your WPML to the latest version so I think it would be best to renew your subscription and upgrade WPML first. Since WordPress evolves so fast it is almost impossible to keep your site up to date with the latest WP release and and old version of WPML. One WPML license allows you to use WPML on unlimited numbers of sites done for your customers so it is a good investment.
Hi, I’m interested in buying WPML. One thing I care a lot in my WP sites is site performance, so I prefer manually to concatenate and minify every JavaScript file in single files, so only one request is made. I also use a very few plugins that enqueue scripts and styles on the frontend ( actually no plugins ). From sites I’ve seen using WPML I see that it enqueue some JS in WP. So my question is is there a way to disable the enqueue of the script without digging into the plugin’s code ( it would be terrible if I need to to it on every update ). Something like option “don’t load JS”, so I don’t have to search for and remove hooks on every plugin update.
Hi Chrysto,
Thanks for your question. Sorry, but we don’t have this option and we don’t plan to add it, as disabling javascript would make WPML useless in most of its features.
You can buy WPML, check it out and if it doesn’t meet your requirements use the refunds policy program: http://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
This theme has the provision to use your multilingual plugin, but not programmed for multi-currency option. Theme uses woo-commerce.
I am looking to purchase the plugin for both options , please guide me for the functionality and cost.
1. I need to make my site multilingual and with multi-currency option in the following way,
Option 1. The site automatically translated to the language and currency from the country it is being accessed, please inform is it possible
Option 2. I can put a drop down on site header so that user can select the language and currency, I want site to be translated and show items cost accordingly.
Answerding your further questions:
>Option 1. The site automatically translated to the language and currency
Please note that WPML doens’t translate your contents automatically. You provide the translations. In WPML you can change an option in your default settings which will detect user language according to his default language in his browser and redirect him to this langue version accordingly, if this langues version is provided
>Option 2. I can put a drop down on site header so that user can select the language and currency
Yes, you will be able to add both lang and currency switcher. Language switcher is added with one click as a widget or to your footer. If you want to put it somewhere else custom coding is needed: http://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/custom-language-switcher/ http://wpml.org/tutorials/language-switchers/ http://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-switcher-options/
About your currency switcher – please read more in the articles linked in the beginning of my comment. But as I said it is you who provide the translations.
I build custom themes depending on what the clients like. Is there a possible way that I could test this plugin to know if this has all the features I need to make my clients’ websites multilingual?
I entered the account successfully. There is a warning as follows:
> Your WPML account has expired, so you cannot download
> new versions or access our support.
I only want to get the files for WPML plugin corresponding to the version I’ve allready downloaded. I’m not asking for a newer version. Is it possible?
Hi there, you have these three possibilities: (I used Polish as an example only)
1. Different languages in directories (http://yoursite.com/ – English, http://yoursite.com/pl/ – Polish)
2. A different domain per language
3. Language name added as a parameter (http://yoursite.com?lang=pl – Polish)
We are developping a website for a client and he allready has a WPML plugin. Although he doesn’t want to communicate it to us. Can I use another licence we have and he will switch to his licence once we deliver him his licence ? Won’t there be any bug ?
Hi Emile, sure you can. You can use your license for all the sites you are building. And from technical point of view it is still the same plugin so no worries.
Hi Gary, WPML doesn’t translate your contents automatically.
WPML provides you an interface allowing to translate all your WordPress elements: posts, pages, menus, tags, categories, custom post types, custom fields, different strings etc. So WPML makes you WordPress site multilingual but doesn’t translate your contents. To translate your texts you have to possibilities:
1. To provide the translations yourself or your own tranlators
2. To send a post/page to our professional translators from ICanLocalize service. This is integrated with WPML so you can do this directly from your WordPress admin and you also receive it directly to your WordPress.
Here you will see a video how it works: http://www.icanlocalize.com/site/services/wordpress-translation/
I am using the X theme from http://theme.co/x/. I am doing a very basic website but i want to be sure that not only is it compatible, but i would need support in case stuff does not work. I am very beginner level at this point!!
Hi Frank,
the X theme is not in our WPML theme compatibility list so I cannot assure you that it will work fine. In general
To translate your post/pages, categories, tags, menus etc you don’t need your theme to be WPML fully compatible. But currently the themes offered in the WP marker are more and more sophisticated and offer more and more custom options. These to be translated require the presence of so called wpml config file. Some developers can create this file themselves, while for others it is a challenge. This is why we ask theme authors for their help here. When a theme author provides his/her theme with such a file your works is easy – all the theme depended strings will appear in our String translation module.
Our WPML supporters can help you to create such a file but only for simple cases. It is difficult to predict how complex is X theme.
You can take a risk and buy WPML, try to use it with X theme with the help of our supporters but if it turns out not to satisfy your needs you can ask for a refund: http://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
You will need to buy CMS version, blog version probably won’t support all the translation for strings provided with this theme.
I’m working with my son’s elementary school to update their website to become multilingual. And have 2 questions:
1) Is there a way for me to try this plugin out for a short time to make sure it behaves as we’re expecting before trying to purchase?
2) Does a public school qualify under your description for a non-profit organization?
Hi James, thanks for your interest in WPML an you questions.
1) Not in its pure form but if you want to see it in action there is a way… Let me explain. We are also the authors of Toolset pugins. And some of our Toolset demo sites (which are available for free) use WPML.
Please go here: http://discover-wp.com/
and choose one of these:
Bootstrap Real Estate
Bootstrap Commerce
they use WPML. This way you will be able to see WPML in action.
2) I think it qualifies but I’m not 100% sure. It would be best if you could contact our non-profit organization department directly saying about your case. You can use the form here: http://wpml.org/purchase/non-profits/
Please note that the queue for free license is quite long so even if you qualify it can take ‘a while’ to activate the subscription.
Hi!
I’m using WPML with Real Homes theme, however I don’t have an account because a former developer bought the plugin, and I don’t have any chance to access trought this account to support.
However , i have a compatiblity problem and when I enable this plugin, prices in carrousel dissapear. According to the theme support: “Looks like the WPML plugin is modifying the posts query globally”. Please, I need help to do multilingual my website and avoid this problem.
Dear Almudena,
It’s very hard to provide technical support over comments. Unfortunately there is no way to include code snippets or follow up on the status. Besides I am a marketing specialist and don’t have needed skills to take a deeper look. Our supporters are more qualified and have tools to investigate the issue raised. There is no another way to help you with such a technical issue as re-post this in our technical forum. This way you can follow-up with the right support person. Visit: https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support and we will follow-up with you quickly.
We sell WPML in a ‘developer license’ model which means that you pay once and you can use WPML on all the sites you are building and buying the license you get access to our support forum and updates. If your subscription was bought on behalf of another developer it means that he is the owner of the license and only he can access the support forum.
Hi Angel,
you need either CMS licence or lifetime license because handling sliders slings usually requires the present of so called ‘Strong translation’ module which is not available in the blog version. Sometimes to translate your sliders strings a so called wpml config file is required.
Some developers can create this file themselves, while for others it is a challenge. This is why we ask theme authors for their help here. When a theme author provides his/her theme with such a file your works is easy – all the theme depended strings will appear in our String translation module.
this is not for my site. Is there something built into the plugin which will allow me to do the multi language dropdown menu with the flags? That seems like such a perfect way to switch languages.
Do I just need to pick a theme that has this built in, or is there another plugin I can add to make it do this?

Hi Alison, yes you can. We sell WPML in a ‘developer license’ model which means that you pay once and you can use WPML on all the sites you are building and buying the license you get access to our support forum and updates.
Hi Francois,
thanks for asking. It looks as you missed your renewal date. You can renew your blog subscription for $15 but only before your current subscription expires.
Ducktape, we send notifications 30 days and 3 days before expiration. Sometimes, rarely, spam filters interfere. Could you double check your spam folder?
Me again, Ducktape, did you sign up with that email address? We were trying to check if we sent you the notifications and didn’t find anything with this email.
Hi,
I will change my personal website to a wordpress template and want to add multilanguage plug-in. I checked your website and would like to buy unlimited lifetime pack. But before I finalize my decision, I want to make sure about couple of subjects.
1 – Am I going to be able to use this plug-in for all my existing and future wordpress websites once I buy $195 pack?
2 – Do I have to buy a seperate installation service for the plug-in or can I install it on my own?
If you install it, how much does that cost?
3 – Where will the plug-in be installed? to a specific template or to my hosting provider for my wordpress themes?
Thanks in advance for all your answers and assistance.
Hi,
1. Yes. You can use it for all your websites and the site you are building for your customers.
2. You install the plugin yourself. Here are the instructions: http://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/
3. You install the plugin in your WordPress, the same way to install any other plugin.

Hi,
WooCommerce Multilingual plugin supports multi-currency options and let you add you currency switcher without php (you can use a shorcode or add it as a widget). You will find more details here:
http://wpml.org/2014/04/woocommerce-multilingual-3-3-beta/
http://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/multi-currency-support-woocommerce/
Answerding your further questions:
>Option 1. The site automatically translated to the language and currency
Please note that WPML doens’t translate your contents automatically. You provide the translations. Yes, you will be able to add both lang and currency switcher. Language switcher is added with one click as a widget or to your footer. If you want to put it somewhere else custom coding is needed:
http://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/custom-language-switcher/

About your currency switcher – please read more in the articles linked in the beginning of my comment. But as I said it is you who provide the translations.
Here is a demo site done with WPML and WooCommerce Multiligual. It uses both language and currency switchers:

Does this plugin allow for translation without having to create a separate folder? And will it provide a unique URL for the page in that language?

Yes, you can and you pay only the difference. You will find an appropriate link in your WPML account.

Hello.
From what I understood, if I pay the USD$79 WPML, next year I’ll be able to renew it for USD$20/year (apróx 50% of USD$39)?
Is this correct?
Hello António,
As you can read in the price table:

the Account renewal per year costs $39.
this is not for my site. do you have any customer examples we can see?
Yes, we have a lot. Please go here to see multilingual sites done with WPML.

Hello,
I’m making sites for a couple different friends. Can I buy one lifetime license in my name and use it on their sites?

Hi Alison, yes you can. We sell WPML in a ‘developer license’ model which means that you pay once and you can use WPML on all the sites you are building and buying the license you get access to our support forum and updates.

Hi,
We wish to renewal our subscription that you have mark as : Account renewal per year @ 15$ in the comparative chart yet the only option is to pay 29$.
What are we missing ?

Hi Francois,
thanks for asking. It looks as you missed your renewal date. You can renew your blog subscription for $15 but only before your current subscription expires.
