Hello, I need to translate a site with many gravity forms I have read in the documentation that it is possible using a plugin named “gravity forms multilingual”.
Is this a plugin I need to purchase ? Where is it available ? Thanks
Hi Christophe,
yes, Gravity Form is a great and flexible plugin and we also use it. Yes, it is compatible with WPML. You will find more information here: http://www.gravityforms.com/
Hi Agnes,
yes, I checked the tutorial where it is mentioned that the required plugins are:
– gravity forms (I have it)
– WPML (I can get it from you)
– Gravity Forms Multilingual’ addon (WHERE CAN I GET THIS ONE ?)
Regarding the latter, it is not part of the gravity forms optional plugins, I didn’t find it in the wordpress repository, google was of no help, so I am turning to you.
Do you have any idea where to find this component ? Is it part of the WPML package ?
Thanks
Some of my customers run your plugin and I want to see the release notes before updating to a new version. Doe you have that information available online somewhere?
Hmmm I’m feeling kind of dumb right now because i thought that wpml actually did the translating… it doesn’t does it? Hiring translators is still a necessity?
thanks
No, it doesn’t. But Google doesn’t like automatic translations either. If your goal is to attract more visitors it is better to provide human made translations. If you have already purchased WPML you can ask for refund: http://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
Hello : ) I am a web designer building a brand new WordPress site for a non-profit organization. They applied for your non-profit version and it looks like we may wait 1-3 weeks for that to arrive.
Is it okay to go ahead and build the site in English right now and then add the WPML Plugin later? Or is it important to have the Plugin installed before beginning to build the website?
When we first bought wpml we’ve asked a pre sale question if it was possible to buy the multilingual cms which is sold on yearly base to see if wpml is the right tool for us, and upgrade to lifetime when it fits.
It does and we want to upgrade to lifetime but how can we settle this?
I can only renew our account…
Hi Paul, nice to hear you want to upgdate to lifetime. Please log into you WPML account and in the ‘My account’ page you should see a link for that on your right sidebar. Please let me know if you cannot see it. It should read ‘Upgrade to Multilingual CMS for life…”
I couldn’t find the answers to these particular cases when using WPML with W3 Total Cache:
1) If user has changed default language (from English to French) and comes back to website homepage again, is it possible to serve homepage in his language (French) right away?
2) When updating page contents, does it properly clear such page in other languages, too (e.g. both site.com/ and site.com/fr/)?
Hi Ivan,
thank you for you questions. I will be happy to answer but I’m not sure what they have to do with W3 Total Cache.
1. Saying ‘user’ you mean a site visitor, right? Not a back-end user? If a visitor switches the language to French and then he/she will click a link (or a logo) to get back to home page, they will be moved to home page in French.
2. WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically. It is you who provides the translations. So when you update a page in one language, its equivalents in other languages won’t be updated.
Can you show me working example how WPML handles redirecting to default language? Tried visiting http://wpml.org/fr/ then went to http://wpml.org/ which displayed English page instead of French.
We would like to know whether WPML allows to customize the segmentation of the exported XLIFF files. That is, whether it is possible to use sentence-based segmentation and define whether a segmentation point is to be inserted after a colon, question mark, etc.
Hi Manuel,
We are not quite sure if we understand what do you mean by “segmentation of the exported XLIFF files”. Could you please provide us with some examples (simple XLIFF files)?
Thanks.
Before I renew/upgrade my account I have a question:
I am using the Easy Media Gallery plugin by GhozyLab, Inc. What version of the WPML plugin I have to purchase if I want to have the plugin caregories to be translated? You can see on my website: http://www.zigzagpictures.com
Hi,
Usually translating custom strings (a theme/plugin dependent strings) is handled by a WPML String translation module which is only available with CMS or Lifetime version. But I cannot give you any warranty this plugin is WPML compatible – I cannot see it on our list: http://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/
what happens if I write a blog post in language A and there no translation to language B has been written yet. Will the post as an empty post in language B or will it be hidden. Can I later add the language B translation?
Hi TobiasL,
you decide via your WPML Settings panel, you have two options:
“How to handle languages without translation
Some pages or posts may not be translated to all languages. Select how the language selector should behave in case translation is missing.
– Skip language
– Link to home of language for missing translations
”
Hi I build both ltr and rtl websites. I see that the plugin in reconfigures the templates correctly so that items align to the right in a rtl template.
Or do I need to make changes to the template to achieve this?
Is this a feature of the basic subscription or the second one?
thanks
Daniel
So the subscription (Blog or CMS) has little to do with RTL. If your need your WPML for a simple blog, the Blog license should be enough. If you need your license for brochure websites and want to translate images as well and other custom strings you will need the CMS version. It includes additional modules which can help you to translate additional elements of your sites.
Hi Ryan,
yes, WPML supports images translation. This is handled by ‘Media translation’ module included in CMS or Lifetime subscription. You upload your image only once to your WordPress and then you only provide translations of titles and alternative texts in different languages. So you don’t have to store different copies of the same images. For translation of your videos. For example you can create separate pages/posts/custom posts for your videos in different languages and just embed them in a proper page/post/custom post.
I couldn’t find the link for my Account renewal per year. You offered last chance to save 50% on WPML renewal but I never find the link or the price reduced to buy it. Now I am out of time to purchase with discount. It’s that a joke? never found the reduced price and link.
Hi,
if your WPML subscription is still active your should be able to renew it and save 50%. You should find a link on the right in your WPML account. Please confirm to me that you found it. I will be happy to help you if there are some problems.
We have just replied for a free version for Non-profit organisation. Now I received the email saying it can take up to 3 weeks for the answer.
Is there any way we can get it quicker or can we purchase and then get a refund, as my client would like to publish the new site before Christmas 🙂
Hi Simone,
you can always purchase and then ask for a refund but please note that this take manual work for us too and the purpose of sharing free license is to help each other not to cause additional issues. Let me check the status of your case with our people here responsible of non-profit license and we will see what we can do in this case. I will keep you posted. Best ragards, Agnes.
I have some questions about your wordpress plugin.
– Is there a demo available?
– Can we set the language per post? So can we set the language for one post on dutch language and for another the language on english? Is this possible?
Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML and your questions.
1. No, there is no official demo available but we are also the authors of Toolset pugins. And some of our Toolset demo sites (which are available for free) use WPML.
Please go here: http://discover-wp.com/
and choose one of these:
Bootstrap Real Estate
Bootstrap Commerce
they use WPML. This way you will be able to see WPML in action.
2. Yes, this is possible. First you add all languages in WPML settings and then you can decide for each post individually if you want it to translate to all of the languages or only to some of them.
Hi!
I purchased this product for 79$ but I am not able to download it because I gave you a wrong e-mail address.
In the purchase process I gave you @yahoo.com instead of @yahoo.ie and that’s why I am not able to access my account to download the product.
I still want to keep my purchase only if you can fix this issue, otherwise I want to get a full refund.
Thank You!

I maybe want to buy the plugin but just a few questions
my sites work with bonfire shandora theme witch has a BonfireTheme page builder.
the translation service i have now (mqtranslate) does NOT translate the content in BonfireTheme pagebuilder seperatly , only the content in the default text box
i only need to translate all the menu items and the blogposts in 2 languages , is this possible with the cheapest solution you have or do i need to buy the 2nd one ?
also when 1yr is over is the plugin still operational without future upgrades or will it shutdown aswell unless we renew it ?
2. Yes, the cheapest solution is enough to translate your posts and menus. If it turns out that you need something else, you can always upgrade to CMS version (you will find a link for that in your WPML account).
3. If you don’t renew your subscription, your plugin will not stop working. But you will not be able to ask question in our support forum or access future upgrades.
i purchased your WPML plugin Order 26429 – 21.09.2012 $79

Thanks for getting back
Hi Luis,
The thing is that you used a google-checkout address.
We have reset the email address in your user account to the one you posted this comment with. So that you can reset your password.
But please note that you don’t an active subscription though.

Hi Gerard,
yes, we have. For each WPML release we post a in-depth article addressing all bug fixes and improvements.
For example:
http://wpml.org/2014/10/wpml-3-1-8-big-stability-improvements/
We also have a detailed log for each release but they are accessed by your WPML account (downloads section).
Hi,
is the source code available upon purchasing the plugin? Am I allowed to modify it for my own needs? Is it obfuscated?
Cheers!
Full source code is available, there is no obfuscation.

Are you sure Ivan? Is serves a French home page for me…
Yes, I’ve tried using both IE and Firefox.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Open http://wpml.org/fr/
2) Close browser
3) Open browser again and navigate to http://wpml.org/
4) It shows English page instead of French.
Thanks for the steps. Now it is clear for me what you were actually asking about. Yes, this is how WPML works.

Or do I need to make changes to the template to achieve this?
Is this a feature of the basic subscription or the second one?

Hi Daniel,
yes WPML supports RTL but as zou probablz know RTL support is more than the direction of writing. For example images and menus should be properly aligned too. So you need to use a theme which already has proper CSS or if you code your themes yourself, you should add extra CSS. You will read all the details here:
http://wpml.org/2011/12/adding-rtl-support-for-theme/
http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/build-rtl-wordpress-themes/
http://wpml.org/2011/06/creating-right-to-left-rtl-wordpress-sites/
So the subscription (Blog or CMS) has little to do with RTL. If your need your WPML for a simple blog, the Blog license should be enough. If you need your license for brochure websites and want to translate images as well and other custom strings you will need the CMS version. It includes additional modules which can help you to translate additional elements of your sites.

Hello,
Thanks you for your questions.
1. You can translate texts and contents created with page builders. We didn’t test all the visual composer available on the WordPress market but this article explains the general rules:
http://wpml.org/2014/06/use-visual-composers-page-builders-wpml/
Hello,
Can i just use the translator to translate 9 pages with a pagebuilder plugin translation with the 29dollar solution ?

Hi Jose,
thanks for your interest in WPML and your questions.
1. To translate theme or plugin dependent strings you will need the CMS version – it contains so called ‘String translation’ module which allows to translate such strings.
This ‘Slider Revolution’ plugin is compatible with WPML:
http://wpml.org/plugin/slider-revolution/
Answering your second question. Please use this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/qtranslate-to-wpml-export/
It was created by our team.
We are a group that remembers an event in October 1944 when 6 South African Air Force B-24 Liberators crashed in the Italian Alps with the loss of 48 airmen, we call ourselves the Alpine 44 Club. We have a lot of information on what happened that night, we want to set up a web site that details these, I have been working with WordPress and want to be able to have the user switch between English and Italian.
We do not have a web site as yet, nor do we have any certificate confirming that we are a non-profit organisation, would appreciate it if you could consider providing us with a complimentary subscription.
Many thanks.
Hi Martin, please apply with the same description using this link:
http://wpml.org/purchase/non-profits/
It will go directly to the people responsible for handling non-profit licences. They will consider your case. Thank you.
Thanks Agnes, but this requires a web site address and proof of non- profit in order to submit, won’t allow me to proceed. We have neither of these.
Martin
OK, let me forward your request then. We will contact you soon.
