Hi there,
I have a question – if I do not hire a translator but i want to translate my site, will this product do it in an effective and efficient manner? Or do I also need a translator?
Hi Jessica, WPML doesn’t translate your contents automatically. You put the translations yourself or you can use our professional translation service which is integrated with WPML.
Hi Ann,
1. WordPress 4.1 – yes
2. Roots theme – yes
3. WP Migrate DB Pro Plugin – We didn’t test but it looks like you need this plugin only to migrate your WP database so actually I cannot see a connection with dealing with translations here.
We’re looking to use WPML on our company site but I’ve got a couple questions;
– Can we use this to hide/show certain segments of our site? Say we were wanting to launch a new language with only certain parts of our site available, eg. no blog, certain pages not there.
– Can other languages use separate WP themes?
I am intrested in purchasing Multilanguage CMS for my sites. The cost is 79$ that provides me all the features, updates and supports for 1 year. Then i have to pay 39$ to keep running it. Is that correct?
After this year can i upgrade my account to Multilanguage CMS paying the difference? Or i ll have to pay the full 195$ price?
Dear Chris,
you mean, after this first year if you want to updagre to Lifetime subscription? You pay only the difference but you must do this before your current license expires (we will send you a reminder 30 days before the expiry date).
If you don’t renew it at all, you can still use WPML but you will lose access to our support forum and future releases.
I create websites for different customers and I want to know whether if I buy the lifetime version I can use it for different customers or I should by one license per customer. You say “you get unlimited sites” but I don’t understand if those websites must be all of my ownership or not.
i would like to buy the “lifetime” version of your brilliant plugin, however i use Advanced Custom Fields in every project and i would like to know whether WPML is compatible with ACF or not.
if I buy the lifetime license and I use it for two different customers, will they both have a support channel? What I want to know is if my customers will be able to have access to support by their own, or only the buyer of the plugin (me) will have access to support.
Hi Gustavo,
support forum can be accessed only by the license owner, the person who has access to WPML account, so in your case it will be probably you.
I’ve already purchased your plugin but now (after changing the theme and reactivating the multilingual cms) it seems to be broken (“Das Plugin kann nicht aktiviert werden, da es einen fatalen Fehler erzeugt. Warning: mysql_query(): No such file or directory in …/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/inc/sitepress-schema.php on line 323”).
What can I do? Purchasing the plugin a second time to get support access again?
Hello,
yes, in order to get our support help you need to have a valid subscription. Please log into your WPML account (if you don’t remember your password, use this link) and check what options are available for you to renew your subscription.
Hi Paul,
if your WPML account is still active, please use our support forum to ask technical questions. Yes, you can install the recent version of WPML, please make sure that you also have your latest WordPress version. Please don’t hesitate to contact our support forum experts, they will guide you with the best way how to proceed.
Hello,
We are looking to build a website for a client in about 9 different languages. They will supply all of the translated copy for us, but what I was wondering was, do we need to use a certain font for any of the languages? Meaning, I know Chinese has special characters, different from those of English. If we generate our Chinese text in a Word document and then copy/paste it into the WordPress Page for the Chinese translation, will it retain the proper characters? Are there certain fonts we should consider using? Or will WPML know which fonts to use depending on which language is selected? Thank you!
Hi Lauren, thanks for your interest in WPML. Copy-pasting will work without any problems. If you want to type in your texts directly using your computer keyboard, to need to have a special keyboard installed supporting specific language.
I would like to buy your plugin, but I’ve try one multilanguage plugin and I had one big problem. Multilanguage plugin was adding CS,ENG,FR letters to my URL and this is problem. Because I’m using woocommerce plugin, which cretes own urls and when Multilanguage plugin adds something to url, woocommerce doesn’t work properly. Do your plugin have problem with this?
Hello,
I am not sure if this is the right place to ask. I have just bought your plugin and you have billed 21% VAT because I live in the European Union. But I actually live on the Canary Islands which belong to Spain and the EU, but are located in Africa. Therefore our VAT is 7%. Can you refund the other 14% and take that into account on further payments?
Thank you.
Yes, you will find both plugins you are quoting in our CMS package.
Yes, WPML supports Arabic. But please note that Arabic is an RTL language so also your theme should support RTL (it means to include a special CSS for RTL languages).
Hello,
I need to build a website with multilingual functionality. This website should have 2 domains mapping to one back-end. Is it possible using this plugin? The two domains will be entirely different.
Hi,
this theme is not present on our theme compatibility list either. But this simply means that we didn’t test it.
Generally speaking every theme that uses WordPress API runs multilingual with WPML.
You will be able to translate your posts, pages, categories, tags, menus, images, custom posts and taxonomies, even custom fields irrespective of a theme chosen.
But currently the themes offered in the WP marker are more and more sophisticated and offer more and more custom options. These to be translated require the presence of so called wpml config file. Some developers can create this file themselves, while for others it is a challenge. This is why we ask theme authors for their help here. When a theme author provides his/her theme with such a file your works is easy – all the theme depended strings will appear in our String translation module.
What should work without any problems even if your theme is not announced as WPML fully compatible. You will still be able to translate:
posts, pages, menus, tags, categories, custom post types, custom fields, taxonomies, different strings etc.
Hi I have purchased multilingual CMS pack for lifetime and did not receive any email to log in. Paypal already has charged me via credit card.
Please let me know how i can proceed further or where i can ask for support.
Hi, thank you.
But if you made a typo we won’t be able to identify you by your email. We will try by your name. If it doesn’t help, we will ask for your order details.
Let us check. I will get back to you.
Hi again, we failed to identify you be your email.
Could you provide us with your 2checkout sales number? Or anything else which will let us identify you in our system?
Hi again,
did you purchase the WPML with the same name (full name): Hong Sung Cha
Sorry but we didn’t find any records in our system for Hong Sung Cha. He found different Hong.
In this case you can do the following:
1. Provide me the full name yo purchase your WPML subscription with
2. or please use this contact form http://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/
to explain your case and after you get a reply (by direct email) you will send them your the 2checkout/PayPal confirmation.
Finally we managed to identify you. Yes, you made a typo in your email. We will change it manually and resend the credentials again.
To whom it may concern,
I’m writing this comment the second time since i’m not able to view my previous comment. Was it deleted?
As written before, i have made purchase of your multilingual CMS plug in for lifetime, completing paypal transaction of 195 USD successfully.
I have not received any email with the login credential. Please provide guidance how to proceed or where to contact in case of pending new account info.
I am planning to build multi language webiste by using your plugin. My english website has been done already. But I have some very shallow questions:
1) by using your plugin, I have to translate and rebuild the website (copy and past) with target lanuage again? how your plugin change the structure of the website? that mean there will be two pages (for example), one page for orignal language (English), one is for 2nd language (Japanese)
2) for picture on the website post/pages, has to be repast onto translated page?
3) so called professional translation service, it is free or changed?
> that mean there will be two pages (for example), one page for orignal language (English), one is for 2nd language (Japanese)
Yes.
We are also the authors of Toolset pugins. And some of our Toolset demo sites (which are available for free) use WPML.
Please go here: http://discover-wp.com/
and choose one of these:
Bootstrap Real Estate
Bootstrap Commerce
they use WPML. This way you will be able to see WPML in action for free.
2. for picture on the website post/pages, has to be repast onto translated page?
No, if you buy the CMS (or Lifetime) subscription, in your WPML Account (Downloads) you will find a plugin called ‘WPML Media’. If you install this you will be able to use the same physical image for all your languages and translate only the titles and alts.
3. so called professional translation service, it is free or changed?
It’s paid. The price depends on the number of words.
Hi, I have a question regarding taglines. Can I change the site’s WordPress tagline on a language-by-language basis? So can the tagline be SOMETHING IN ENGLISH for /en pages and SOMETHING IN SPANISH for /es pages? Thanks!
We are currently using Transposh as a language translator on one of our websites. We are unable to copy and paste the translations already done on their previous website as Transposh does it automatically. You can choose to edit translations but it make you select a sentence or word at a time. With this WPML plugin are we able to copy the translations from the previous website and paste them in to the new website?
Hi,
translations of posts and pages are stored in WPML as WordPress posts and pages so the best way to import your translations from one site to another would be to used the standard WordPress import/export mechanism. But you will also need to link post between languages (to say which post is a translation of which one) and you will need to do this manually.
I see on your orders page that I can upgrade from Blog to CMS. What about upgrading from CMS to lifetime within the first year? Is this possible? If so how can I do this please?
Yes, this is also possible. You will be able to do it 30 days before your current subscription expires. You will receive an automatic notification 30 days in advance and you will see a link in your WPML account to proceed. If you upgrade before your current subscription expires, you will pay the difference only.

Where do I get information on cost for translator service?
Best would be to contact our ICanLocalize servie. They have a live chat.

Hi Gustavo,
yes, you need only one WPML license and you can use it for all the sites you build for you customers or for yourself.
Hello,
if I buy one Multilingual cms can I use it on different domains?
Hi,
yes, you can. You need to buy only one WPML licence and you can use it for all the sites you are building (for you or for your customers).

Is sozot.net a reseller of yours?
Hi Luis,
this site is not responding. But we are the only official provider of WPML.

Hi Gustavo,

I would buy the full licence but ive read the development will stop. Is i right? So the plugin would not work with new wordpress versions?
I was really surprised to hear that the development would stop. Where did you hear this? 🙂
We don’t have such plans. So don’t worry.
