We’re just out with a first release of BuddyPress Multilingual. This plugin enables running multilingual BuddyPress sites with WPML.

It adds a language switcher to BuddyPress bar, allowing visitors to select their languages. Then, it hooks to different elements that BuddyPress generates and makes sure they are all language sensitive.

The main blog and guest blogs can run multilingual. WPML allows different authors to select their admin language, so that different users can manage their guest blogs in their native languages.

Here is how the famous BuddyPress bar looks like with the plugin running:

It’s running fine on BuddyPress 1.0, and we’re working hard to complete support for BuddyPress 1.1 (should be available next week).

To get started, have a look at the (very basic) users guide.

  1. Hi,

We’re currently running a blog using BuddyPress 1.1 and are eager to make it multilingual using your plugin. Do you have an estimate on when you will complete support for BuddyPress 1.1?

    Thanks!
    Sher

    • A bit longer. We’re working on this, but it’s not the highest priority thing we’re doing (got paying clients to tend to).

  2. Dear Sirs:

Congratulations for you well done WPML plugin.

We are using Buddypress and would appreciate your information regarding the availability of Buddypress Multilingual for BP version 1.2.5.

This because we want to convert our site to multilingual and after testing WPML we found that Buddypress Multilingual version 1.0 is not running on BP 1.2.5.

Depending on your answer we will take the decision to install WPML and wait for new BP Multilingual or to use QTranslate and Buddypress and qTranslate plugin.

    Thanks for your attention.

  3. Hi all!

I’m on similar boat as campesino, need multilingual solution to our buddypress boosted site. I can manage with qTranslate, but seems like BPML could be great also. What are your plans? Do you have any estimate when WP3 compatible release is coming or is it coming at all?

    Thanks!
