We’re planning to make another small bugfix release of WPML, which includes changes we gathered over the last couple of weeks. If you know of any bugs, now is the time to report them.

For example, as reported on Paulov.ru (in Russian), two typos made WPML incompatible with the OpenID plugin. Other fixes include SQL queries that caused translations to fail for certain non-English characters in categories and some corner issues with WPML’s professional translation.

Any Bugs to Report?

If you’ve found any bugs, included things reported in the forum without any response, please leave comments here. Mihai will go over issues and make sure this release addresses them all. Please, bugs only, not cool ideas for new features.

WPML 2.0 is a Bit Behind But Getting There

You may have noticed that WPML 2.0 is not out yet. Not even as a beta release. It’s taking a little more time to polish but we’re really close.

For now, we’ve tested it on Repousse @ VivaThemes, Canvas @ WooThemes, e-Commerce from Templatic and Atahualpa. Had some nasty bugs to fix and it’s looking much better now. We’re pretty certain we’ll be ready with a solid Beta by the end of this week. Hang in there, it’s worth the wait!

  1. I have a site where the search is not limited to the current language. I have added the hidden input field. I can provide more info later.

  2. I’m getting different categories when creating and when editing posts of a custom post type in WP 3.

    • Would you like to create an account for us in your blog so that we can see the problem? We’re not getting it on our sites.

Let me know if it’s OK and Mihai will email you.

      • Hi,

Great, we have created an account and if you send email I’ll send the account details back.

  3. Since the last upgrade I haven’t been able to get “Choose from the most used tags” to work, it always says “No tags found!” .. but there are other tags. Disable WPML and it works again.

  4. i have a site with three languages. 404 pages works fine on the standard language but if i am on a ‘second level’ page of any of the languages the 404 throws me to my latest post.

    Etc:
    mysite.dk/profile/404tryout – works
mysite.dk/gb/profile/404tryout – breaks and go to the lastest post

    Hope this is fixable

Thank you for this amazing plugin!

  5. Hi guys,

what about compatability to thesis ? I know a lot of people in the thesis forum who are using WPML and would be more than happy

    regards
    Joe

    • As far as we know, WPML and Thesis work fine together.

There are several web developers, who we’re working with, who use Thesis mainly and create many multilingual sites.

  6. Hello,

When I place the widget in the sidebar the dropdown menu and the static menu won’t work. They do not fold out.

    Does this sound familier?

    Regard,

    Dirkjan

    • Sounds like a theme / CSS issue. There are ways to prevent the drop-down menu languages menu from working.

If you cannot fix it in your CSS, try using the footer language switcher. This is, pretty much, a bullet-proof solution.

  7. Hi,

Not sure if out last post was forgotten since it was one of the first comments but we have created an account and if you send email I’ll send the account details back.

We also upgraded to the latest bugfix release yesterday but we are still having the problem where the categories disapears when editing a custom post type.
