After two beta versions and lots of great feedback from WPML’s community, we’re ready with WPML 2.3.3 – a comprehensive bugfix release.

Most chances are that the bugs we’re fixing did not bother you. These are all corner cases, which take some effort getting to. However, it’s still very important to upgrade, so that when you get to these places, WPML still runs smooth for you.

This release fixes:

  • Editing hierarchical categories and taxonomy
  • Editing taxonomy via the post-edit form using the AJAX operations
  • Adding translations from the non-default language
  • Landing in the wrong language after translating taxonomy
  • Category hierarchy not synchronized for translations
  • Wrong counts in different admin pages
  • Missing filters, causing wrong items to return for some API calls
  • Minor glitches related to WP 3.2 deprecated calls

Even though we don’t have any huge or groundbreaking items here, a lot of work has been put into guaranteeing smooth operation for the taxonomy system. This will make things much easier for WPML’s next round of new-features, as we work with plugins and themes that depend heavily on WordPress taxonomy.

What’s Next

We’re also almost ready to announce complete solutions for two leading E-Commerce plugins. In the past few months we’ve been working with the WP E-Commerce and MarketPress teams and we’re now in final stages of the development and testing.

In the coming days, we should have working solutions with both plugins. I’ll write about it in separate posts.

WordPress 3.2

We upgraded our own wpml.org to WordPress 3.2 and it’s working great for us.

As always, you should be prepared for the unexpected when upgrading major WordPress versions. Backup your DB and start the upgrade only when you’re sure that you can go back if trouble hits you.

WordPress 3.2 is great and certainly worth those 5 minutes of upgrade.

  1. would be nice if users who have purchased could auto-update from within the wp plugin list… pretty fucking annoying to have to come here and not even be able to sign in to tell your site that i’ve already purchased.

    • On the first upgrade, you’ll need to upload WPML manually. Later, you’ll use the regular plugins update mechanism from within WordPress.

  2. Hi.

When I automatically update from WordPress after entering subscription email and key, all the plugin files are removed from their folders. The folders are still there but now empty! Additionally, the wp-content/upgrade is not emptied and still has what looks like the new version of the plugin.

Is it a known issue? It’s my second upgrade and I’m on WordPress 3.2.

    Thanks.

    • I’m not sure. We’ll see if WordPress has changed anything in the upgrade logic. As far as we’ve checked, it’s all the same and this is the first time we’re hearing of such a problem.

      • Ok, keep us posted if I’m not alone.
Anyway, I manually upgraded. I’ll see next time if I have the same issue.
        Thanks. And good job!

  3. Hi Amir, ( i’m sorry for my english ) i need some assistance to buy wpml wordpress plugin.
I need to buy the cms version (79$) with the credit card of my company.
So i need a cash receipt with my company’s VAT. Is it possible have it (after the payment too)? Tnx

    • After you buy, login to your WPML account. You’ll see instructions for getting a tax invoice. There, you will be able to enter the ‘payer’ information. You can type in whatever you want. The invoice will include our tax information and is printable.

  4. Any news about the WP E-Commerce solution? I need it badly for the shopping cart and checkout.

  5. hello, my issue is with the homepage… right now by default homepage is “my latest blog posts” and so the slider category is set in the theme options… but how do i make the spanish homepage to load the slides../? even the english slides.. preferably the spanish slides…

    • You should set that in Settings->Reading. There, choose either a static page for the home, or the latest posts (blog mode).

      • yes its set to latest posts, thats the way the theme works…
so what can i do for the home in spanish?

        thank you
