Getting started with Acclaro and WPML

To send content for translation to Acclaro, install the following plugins on your website:

      • WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin
      • WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings

You can download them from your wpml.org account. If you do not have an account yet, you can create a new one by choosing WPML Multilingual CMS or Multilingual Agency plans.

Working with Acclaro via WPML

Here are the basic steps of working with WPML and Acclaro. For a full walkthrough, check out our page about using WPML with a translation service.

Connecting Your Website to Acclaro

First, you need to connect WPML with Acclaro. Part of this very simple process is to request your Acclaro API token.

To request your API Token, simply register and a member of the Acclaro team will contact you to discuss more details about your translation needs, details such as languages required, deadlines and budget. Once you reach a business agreement with Acclaro, an API Token will be sent to you by email.

Sending content for translation

Once your site is connected to Acclaro, you can start sending your content for translation.

Receive a quotation from Acclaro

Acclaro will begin the quoting process once they receive the pages sent through WPML. Acclaro’s team will analyze the files submitted to us and provide accurate word counts and cost estimates per language. Acclaro will send a complete quote to you via your preferred communication channel: My Acclaro, email, or any shared channels on Teams, Slack, etc.

Receiving completed translations

You can track progress on your translations from both the WPML plugin as well as My Acclaro. As soon as your translations are complete, your project manager will update the status of your order in My Acclaro. This will trigger an automated system notification that you’ll receive via email. You can also set up notifications for additional people in My Acclaro.

Once done, your site is ready to receive completed translations.

Canceling translation jobs

There are a few different ways you can cancel a job. My Acclaro supports commenting on all orders, so you can comment with instructions to cancel one or all of the files contained in that order.

You can also simply email your project manager and let them know that you would like to cancel. If you send any files to Acclaro through WPML by accident, they will be happy to cancel the order for you. While Acclaro normally charges a fee for cancellation, as long as if minimal time has passed since you submitted the order, you will not incur any fees.

Translating the Rest of Your Site

Once you’re done translating the content of your page, there could be untranslated texts in menus, sidebars, and similar places. No problem, you can use Acclaro to translate the rest of your site.
