Getting started with SpokenHere and WPML

To send content for translation to SpokenHere, install the following plugins on your website:

  • WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin
  • WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings

You can download them from your wpml.org account. If you do not have an account yet, you can create a new one by choosing WPML Multilingual CMS or Multilingual Agency plans.

Working with SpokenHere via WPML

Here are the basic steps of working with WPML and SpokenHere. For a full walkthrough, check out our page about using WPML with a translation service.

Connecting Your Website to SpokenHere

First, you need to connect WPML with SpokenHere. Part of this very simple process is to request your SpokenHere API token.

You can request an API token by writing to wpml@spoken-here.com or calling  +1-281-607-2505to. Alternatively, you can fill out the API Request form at the bottom of SpokenHere’s WPML page.

Sending content for translation

Once your site is connected to SpokenHere, you can start sending your content for translation.

Receive a quotation from SpokenHere

  1. You will be sent a quote from SpokenHere’s online client portal, Compass.
  2. Review the quote (PDF sent to your email address).
  3. If the quote is acceptable, log in to Compass and accept it.
  4. Your project will get started!

Receiving completed translations

SpokenHere will upload your translated pages back to your WordPress website.

Once done, your site is ready to receive completed translations.

Canceling translation jobs

You can email your project manager (listed in the quote) or support@spoken-here.com, or call them at +1-281-607-2505 to request cancellation. You will be billed for any work already completed up to cancellation.

Translating the Rest of Your Site

Once you’re done translating the content of your page, there could be untranslated texts in menus, sidebars, and similar places. No problem, you can use SpokenHere translate the rest of your site
