Getting started with SimulTrans and WPML

To send content for translation to SimulTrans, install the following plugins on your website:

  • WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin
  • WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings

You can download them from your wpml.org account. If you do not have an account yet, you can create a new one by choosing WPML Multilingual CMS or Multilingual Agency plans.

Working with SimulTrans via WPML

Here are the basic steps of working with WPML and SimulTrans. For a full walkthrough, check out our page about using WPML with a translation service.

Connecting Your Website to SimulTrans

First, you need to connect WPML with SimulTrans. Part of this very simple process is to request your SimulTrans API token.

Clients can request an API Token in the following scenarios:

  1. If they are already a SimulTrans’ client: contact their Project Manager and let them know that they need an API Token for WPML. SimulTrans will arrange an API token for them immediately to be sent via email.
  2. If they are new to SimulTrans: contact SimulTrans at info@simultrans.com, provide a contact name and e-mail address, and an API Token will be sent shortly. Alternatively, you can request an API token at Simultrans’ WPML contact page.

Sending content for translation

Once your site is connected to SimulTrans, you can start sending your content for translation.

Receive a quotation from SimulTrans

Once you select and submit content to SimulTrans for translation you can expect a quote within 24 hours from SimulTrans’ Analysis team. The quote will be emailed to you outlining the costs, estimated delivery date, billing details, and any other relevant project information.

You can simply click on a quote link in the email to automatically approve or reject the quote. If the quote is approved, the assigned project manager will send an introduction email and answer any questions the client might have, reconfirm delivery dates, etc. Then, the project is automatically routed via the SimulTrans translation workflow to the assigned in-country translation team for this client. If the quote is rejected, the project does not start.

Receiving completed translations

As soon as a translation project is finished by SimulTrans, an automatic email notification is sent to the client alerting them that the project is finished. Depending on the site’s configuration, the content will be uploaded to client’s WordPress environment automatically and a notification will be sent.

Canceling translation jobs

If you have requested a quote, you can click on the link in the email sent to them and reject the quote. This automatically cancels a quote/job. If you have accepted the quote and the project has started, then you have to contact SimulTrans’ project manager directly so they can manually cancel the translation.

Translating the Rest of Your Site

Once you’re done translating the content of your page, there could be untranslated texts in menus, sidebars, and similar places. No problem, you can use SimulTrans to translate the rest of your site.
