Overview of the issue
WPML relies on the cookie to get the current admin language and this is a “global” parameter for the browser. As a consequence, it is not possible to edit posts with different languages in two different tabs.
Workaround
As a workaround, instead of working with browser tabs, you could simply use two different browsers or the same browser with several windows in “incognito” (private) mode.
