Hi,

I am trying to: To copy in the admin interface a content from a certain post type to a newly generated Custom Post Typ useing the Post Type switcher. The post is moved only correct if I deactivate the translation for the new custom post type. If not the moving fails and the post is not correct visible (WordPress does not list the post, but only show that there is a post based on the post count). If I deactivate translation for the post type it will get visible. In all cases the Translation Menu (Translation Queue) under the WPML Menu shows the post still in the old category and is not longer available. I'm running WP 5.1.1. Using the latest WPML Plugins.

I expected to see: The original post + the translations moved to the new custom post type.

Instead, I got: Original post and translated post become disconnected. (translations stays in the old post category). I'm also not sure if a inconsistency is generated, since the post type which WPML shows in the Translation Queue does not update correct and the Edit button in this list disapears.

What can I do to move post + translation?

Many thanks,

Daniel

HI, Daniel,

We have checked your issue and found that your plugin "Post Type Switcher" is not in our plugin's compatibility list.
=> http://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/

Post Type Switcher plugin switches post types but WPML saves the translation data in icl_translations, they still have old post type associated.

I would kindly ask you to request the author of the plugin to collaborate with us through our go global program to make the plugin work well with WPML https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/.

Kind regards
Raja

Hi Raja,

thanks a lot for your reply. Well this seems logical and was almost clear to me. Nevertheless I do not know of another possability to move posts from one type to another. Could you point out an option which will work with WPML? (in the worst case also in the database)

Many thanks,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I could not find any other alternative plugin with similar functionality, However, With the "Post Type Switcher" You can try the WPML troubleshooting option.

Secure a backup of your site and database
Goto WPML > Support > Troubleshooting
- Click on the following buttons
--- Set language information
--- Fix terms count
--- Fix post type assignment for translation

Plese, let me know if the troubleshooting option helps.

Kind regards
Raja

It helped me to remove Ghost Posts. Afterwards I was able to use the Plugin. After moving the items to the new category the translations first was not available. I added the translation by hidding plus and automaticly all translated settings where recognized. It was a bit manual work but worked for me. It might me the the option above help to avoid the manual work, but I did not want to go any risk. Solved.
