Getting started with 2M Language Services and WPML

To send content for translation to 2M Language Services, install the following plugins on your website:

  • WPML Multilingual CMS – the core plugin
  • WPML String Translation – this plugin will allow you to translate interface strings

You can download them from your wpml.org account. If you do not have an account yet, you can create a new one by choosing WPML Multilingual CMS or Multilingual Agency plans.

Working with 2M Language Services via WPML

Here are the basic steps of working with WPML and 2M Language Services. For a full walkthrough, check out our page about using WPML with a translation service.

Connecting Your Website to 2M Language Services

You need an API Token to connect your multilingual WordPress site with 2M Language Services. To obtain the API token, please visit 2M’s Token Request Page.

Sending content for translation

Once your site is connected to 2M Language Services, you can start sending your content for translation.

Receive a quotation from 2M Language Services

For new clients, to receive a quotation simply send them the URL of your website and precise the language(s) you are looking for. A project manager will analyze your site and provide you with a detailed page-by-page word count analysis and a quote. You may choose to accept the quote or refine the scope (i.e. only translate certain pages and not the entire website or add/remove languages).

Once the quote is confirmed, we will share the API token with you so you can connect your site with our service and you may start sending content for translation. For current clients, you can send content for translation directly via the WPML connector and a project manager will send you a quote.

Receiving completed translations

Once done, your site is ready to receive completed translations.

When translations are completed and delivered back to your site, they will notify you. 2M usually performs an in-context proofing step where its linguists will review the translation in your site to ensure everything looks the way it should.

Canceling translation jobs

To cancel a job, contact 2M Language Services by email or phone and your account manager will cancel the job(s) on the back-end of the WPML content connector.

Translating the Rest of Your Site

Once you’re done translating the content of your page, there could be untranslated texts in menus, sidebars, and similar places. No problem, you can use 2M Language Services to translate the rest of your site.
