Default permalinks and trailing slash on shop page url

Overview of the issue

A trailing slash is added to the shop page’s url regardless of language.

This appears to happen when a WordPress/WooCommerce installation is using default permalinks.

Workaround

There is no workaround are the moment, however the issue is resolved in the upcoming new version.
An alternative solution is to not use default permalinks.
