Reported for: WPML Multilingual CMS 3.3.8

Resolved in: WPML Multilingual CMS 3.5.2

Overview of the issue

Visiting the second language on your site – e.g. http://example.com/de/ , may redirect you to the language you have set as default in your browser. In that case, you need to switch back to the language that you have (previously) selected.

Workaround

At this time, there is no workaround, except disabling the browser redirection on the WPML->Languages page.

    • Hi Tommy,

We couldn’t handle this in the upcoming release of WPML, as we need to provide a version which, among other fixes and improvements, will address a couple of compatibility issues with WordPress 4.6, which will be released the next week.

However, this issue with the browser redirection is in our queue and will be handled as soon as possible, but also according to the severity of the other issues we must also address.

  1. Hi,

My problem regarding to redirecting to the default language when clicking on another language flag is an a WPML software problem I read.
I’m using WPML for a client, now the client is complaining about the software error.
Can you make a priority for solving this error problem in the next update? Can you give an indication when the problem is solved?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards, Pieter

  2. We have just released a first beta which handles this and other issues.

You can download it from here: https://wpml.org/account/downloads/#cms-beta-package-2

Please remember that this is a beta and should be installed in a non-production site, or at least you must create a full backup of your site, before installing it.

If you find any issue in this beta, please use the support forum and make sure to specify the version you are using (which is 3.5.2-b.1, at the moment of writing this).
