Getting Started

Start by installing and activating the following:

Kalium theme comes bundled with premium plugins. This includes the WPBakery page builder, Advanced Custom Fields plugin, and Slider Revolution plugin. Once you activate your theme, you can install these plugins by going to Appearance → Install plugins.

If you’re new to WPML, check out our Getting Started Guide. It quickly walks you through different translation options you can use.

Translating Posts and Pages

Kalium theme is compatible with WPML’s Translate Everything Automatically mode. This option translates your site’s content as you add or edit it. You can additionally choose to review your translations before publishing to make sure they’re error-free.

Or, go with the Translate What You Choose mode. With this mode enabled you can decide what to translate, and who will translate it. Choose from translating content yourself, assigning it to individual translators, or enlisting the help of a professional translation agency.

To learn how to translate your site’s content in bulk, see our guide to sending content for translation via the Translation Management Dashboard.

Translating Pages Built With WPBakery Page Builder

Kalium comes bundled with the WPBakery Page Builder.

Visit our documentation page for exact steps on how to translate pages built with WPBakery Page Builder.

Adding Translation Support for Custom WPBakery Page Builder Modules

WPML allows you to manually enable the translation of custom WPBakery Page Builder modules and their attributes. See our guide to defining page builder shortcodes in the language configuration file.

Translating Portfolio Pages

To translate Portfolio items, you need to follow the same steps as for translating custom post types.

In the example below, we are translating our Portfolio item from the Language box on the page.

Clicking the plus icon to translate a Portfolio item

Clicking the plus icon next to the language you want to translate your Portfolio item into will take you to the Advanced Translation Editor. If you have translation credits, you can translate your content automatically. If not, add the translations for each line and click Complete when you’re done.

Translating Portfolio Categories

You can translate your Portfolio Categories in the same way you would translate post categories and custom taxonomies.

In the example below, we’ll show you how to translate Portfolio Categories from a central taxonomy menu.

  1. Go to WPML → Taxonomy Translation and select Portfolio Categories from the drop-down menu.
  2. Click the plus icon to translate your Portfolio Category terms and hit enter to save them.

Keep in mind that the translations of categories are universal: any changes that you make will be updated everywhere.

Translating Texts From Kalium Theme, Plugins and Other Places

Besides the content coming from posts and pages on your site, there are usually some additional texts coming from other places. These texts most commonly come from your theme and plugins.

To learn how to translate these texts, read our documentation page about String Translation.

Translating Menus

WPML allows you to translate your menus automatically, manually, or synchronize them across all your site’s languages. For more information, check out our documentation page about translating menus.
