Background of the issue:
I am working on implementing WPML on a website for a client. Original language: Dutch. Translations: English and German. URL: hidden link

Symptoms:
Initally, I had my profile set to the default Dutch interface. Translations done during that time (to English and German) were done correctly: original language Dutch, translation German.

However, somewhere during the process of implementing German, I changed my interface to English, as I usually prefer that.

Questions:
For every translation I did after that (products, pages, strings), now the original language all of a sudden is English! The glossary is also applied erratically: sometimes it is, sometimes it is not.

I just deleted all German product translations, switched back my profile to Dutch (default) and translated again (automatic translation). Now the original language is Dutch, and the glossary is used properly.

Is this intended behavior? I've been working with WPML a long time, and have never seen this before.

Hi there,

I'd appreciate it if you could set the next reply as private to provide the login info for the copied website to investigate the language change of the original language when you set the profile language to something else.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Thank you for your patience. There is no need for FTP. I checked by changing the profile language to English and started to check various pages and Products.

I could not replicate the issue as whenever I enter the Advanced Translation Editor I see the Dutch version on the left and English version on the right.

Same for the German version. Did you manage to replicate the issue on the staging website?

Hi Christopher,
I have not been able to reproduce it on the staging site anymore.

Kind of discomforting. Is this something that could occur if I have the "current" language for WPML in WP-admin set to something other than the default language?

Hi there,

Honestly I am not sure as I have never seen such issue.

What I suggest is that you have a backup and do the change and record all the steps to see maybe there is something that triggers such an issue which you will be the best person to know what was the trigger.

Thanks.
