Dieses Thema ist gelöst. Hier finden Sie eine Beschreibung des Problems und der Lösung.

Problem:
The client is developing a website and needs to know if granting FTP access to a third-party for support could compromise the WPML license key.
Solution:
We assure you that the WPML license key is securely stored in the database and is not accessible via FTP/SFTP. Granting a developer FTP access does not compromise the security of the license key, as it is bound to your domain and cannot be used elsewhere. Furthermore, the translations are also stored in the database and do not depend on the WPML key. If necessary, you can remove and regenerate a new WPML key for your domain from here.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Hi there.

I am not sure that I fully understand what you mean.

Once you register WPML, that key is saved in the database, so yes, you can grant access via FTP/SFTP to a developer who will work on your site if that's what you mean.

I hope that you will find this information helpful.

Hi there, thanks for help.

The point is: It is a third-party support. We do not want to compromise the license key with the access.

Is the license key encrypted in the database? Is there a way to read it in the FTP directory?

Hi Tom.

The key is saved into the database and inaccessible via SFTP/FTP.

Also, the developer would have no use for the WPML key - that is just a license key. They can't assign it to a different domain, and they can't have access to anything even if they would have it.

The translations are also saved into the database so they don't depend on the WPML key.

That is just a license key that works only with your domain.

Also, you can always completely remove it and generate a new WPML key for that domain from here:
http://wpml.org/account/sites/

I hope that you will find this information helpful.
