Hello, i'm encountering some issues with your plugin.

1/ don't translate class or id
--> we are using a lot of class/id for css and scroll-to purposes. Looks like they are getting translated. How can i prevent this? Is there a way to prevent this

2/ Link to homepage
when you select "DE" as the main language and you click on the logo, you get redirected to the main (NL) version of the homepage

3/ links are not translated/modified correctly
some links don't get translated/modified.
example: hidden link -->retail --> read more (this links to the NL versoin

4/ how can i automaticly translte the subnavigation

5/ how can i make sure some strings don't get translated (for example KMO Portefeuille)

Hello, i'll try to help you ou while a supporter takes your case.

1) Can you tell me where are you adding these classes? if you're adding them inside content, and you are using the translation editor, it's very likely they are being translated as a normal text. you can go to the translation editor of the pages affected and check for the classes that are translated and set them as they should.

2) Is the menu translated as explained here, by any chance --> https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-menus/ ? please let us know to understand better what to do next.

Also check that the homepage in the translated language appears as published. you can know this by editing the translated page and checking it as you would with any normal WordPress page.

3) I don't see any "read more" button on the retail page (hidden link ), can you please let me know where that button is? and also, can you tell me how are you translating it and if you're using the full URL (hidden link instead of /page-slug) because otherwise it may not be translated.

4) I take it the subnavigation links are custom links in the menu, right?. in that case, please read this guide: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-menus/#translating-custom-links-after-wp-menus-sync:~:text=Apply%20changes%20button.-,Translating%20Custom%20Links%20after%20Running%20WP%20Menu%20Sync,-After%20the%20synchronization

5) If they come from content, then you can use our glossary feature to make sure they are not translated. you can read more about this feature here: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/how-to-create-and-manage-glossary-entries/

-------------------

Please note that we handle only one topic per ticket. if any of the issues are solved, please let us know which and the remaining ones will be handled one by one (you can let us know which one is more pressing if you want). You don't need to do anything, we'll do everything that's needed to help you out but we may need to split the tickets during this process.

Regards.

This is driving me crazy. Everytime i update a page, all the "id's" get translated. i have changed "finance" to "lnk_finance", but this gets ignored. Where can i add strings to make they don't get translated automatic?

How can i make sure this doesn't get translated automaticly. as you can see this is incorrect and i have no idea how to prevent this.

i was using translatepress earlier, and i didn't have this many issues with that software. This is really irritating.

Hi,

I'm Osama from WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.

First of all, sorry for the late reply; it was due to a higher workload. Let us focus on this ticket in the IDs issue.

Please let me know how these IDs are added in the default language and how you translated the page.

Also, I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP)
Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.

Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.

❌ Please backup your database and website ❌

✙ I need your permission to deactivate and reactivate the plugins and themes and change site configurations. This is also why the backup is critical.

✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.

Best regards,
Osama
