Background of the issue:
I have a bi-lingual website, original language is English and translated is Italian. Some of my products have translated URLs but their descriptions are in English because I had duplicated them instead of manually translating every product. Now I need to bulk replace some English sentences in my translated products (not in the original English products). I contacted the 'Better Search Replace' plugin to find out if I can use their plugin to bulk search and replace English sentences only in the translated Italian version of the website and not in the English version.
Symptoms:
I need to bulk replace English sentences in the translated Italian products without affecting the original English products.
Questions:
Can I use the 'Better Search Replace' plugin to bulk search and replace English sentences only in the translated Italian version of the website?
Does WPML store the translated version of the website on a separate database table/s?
The 'Better Search Replace' support team replied:
"With Better Search Replace, you can narrow the search down to individual database tables.
We’re not familiar with how WPML stores its data on the database but if WPML stores the translated version of the website on a separate database table/s then you can narrow the search down to that table/s.
If that’s not the case then I’m afraid there isn’t a way to only replace translated data. We would suggest reaching out to WPML support team to verify this.
With WooCommerce however, since its data including products are stored in the database, Better Search Replace would be able to search and replace that plugin’s data."
