[Gelöst] WPBakery Media Grid translation is unreliable and WPML workflow is extremely frustrating and slow!

First, I apologize for the confusion if the XML configuration was already present and correct on the production site. During our investigation, there was some back and forth with our second-tier team, including adjustments to the Media Translation settings, after which the XML configuration worked correctly in our tests.

The important remaining step is to update the original German pages. I had already shared that the first time I shared the XML. This is necessary so WPML can reprocess the page content and recognize the newly registered media fields. Until this happens, the existing translation jobs may remain in an intermediate state, which explains why ATE can report an incomplete translation without displaying all the expected Media fields.

You do not need to open and save every Image Grid element individually, in theory. You can update the affected pages in bulk (let me know if this works this way):

1. Go to Pages in the WordPress dashboard.
2. Switch to German.
3. Select the affected pages.
4. Choose Edit from the Bulk actions menu and click Apply.
5. Without changing any values, click Update.

This should trigger the required content reprocessing for all selected pages. Afterward, reopen their translations in ATE. The Media sections and the translation status should then be displayed correctly.

The widget is a custom extension of WPBakery provided by the theme, so WPML needed an additional configuration to recognize its media IDs and make it work. That's why we from support are here. That configuration is now in place. Once the original pages have been updated, every issue brought should be resolved.

I was able to adjust the WPML XML configuration so the custom links from the image grid are now available for translation in the Advanced Translation Editor.

Please note that these links are stored by the WPBakery widget as custom content and were not originally configured by the widget author as multilingual fields. Because of this, WPML cannot automatically recognize and expose them in the same way as standard translatable content.

The links are now available in ATE, but you will need to actively search for them in the translation editor, for example using part of the original URL. You can then enter the corresponding translated URLs manually.

This is the expected workaround for this widget structure, since WPML can only work with the multilingual information provided by the widget/plugin integration.
