WPML Translation Management provides you with Classic and Advanced Translation Editors. Both of these editors help you translate your content more quickly and easily.

By default, WPML enables the Advanced Translation Editor for new translations on all new sites. This allows you to use all the great features included with the Advanced Translation Editor, including automatic translation.

If you prefer to use the Classic Translation Editor, you can change translation editors by going to WPML → Settings and scrolling down to the Translation Editor section.

Translation Editor options on the WPML Settings page

There are two options:

  • New translations refer the content you translate from the moment you select this option.
  • The second option is about content translated previously using the Classic Translation Editor.

If you switch to using the Advanced Translation Editor, any content previously translated using the Classic Translation Editor will not be visible in the Advanced Translation Editor. However, they will still be visible on the site’s front-end.

You can copy and paste the existing translations from your site’s front-end or click the Translate automatically button in the Advanced Translation Editor to easily add translations.

Read more about switching from the Classic to the Advanced Translation Editor.

If you switched or mixed translation methods and don’t see your translations, see why your translations aren’t showing.
