This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client has a website with articles in Spanish and wants to use WPML's automatic translation feature with DeepL to translate the missing articles into German without affecting the existing German translations or other languages.

Solution:
1) Navigate to WPML-> Translation Management.
2) Filter by articles.
3) Select the untranslated articles.
4) Send them for automatic translation to German only.

Hello,

My situation is the following.

I have a website with 1500 articles. The original content is in Spanish, and I have English, French Portuguese and German as translated languages.

Not all content is translated to all languages. At the moment the split is something like this:

Spanish - 1500 articles
English - 1300 articles
French - 800 articles
Portuguese - 400 articles
German 150 articles

I would like to use WPML built-in automatic translation (DeepL) to translate the 1350 missing articles into German. I don't want the existing 150 German articles to be translated, and I definitely don't want this to affect the other languages, which shall remain incomplete for the time being.

Is there a way to do this that is not manually translating each article one by one?

Thanks! 🙂
