Background of the issue:
I am trying to edit my posts and pages in WordPress using the WPML plugin. However, I encounter issues that prevent me from accessing the edit page backend. Additionally, the plugin causes a mix of languages on my translated pages/posts. This issue has occurred a couple of times before. More details can be found here: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wmpl-automatically-translate-a-layout-part-it-shouldnt-3/. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link

The support from both Themify and my web host have investigated the case, and they says it is the WMPL plugin that causes the issue.

Symptoms:
I can't edit my posts and pages in WordPress as I get directed to an empty space instead of the edit page backend. The WPML plugin mixes the language on the main site (Danish) with the translated versions (Spanish + English) and shows old versions of the front page with a mix of languages. It also changes the links into the Danish version.

Questions:
Why can't I edit my posts and pages in WordPress?
How can I fix the language mix issue on my translated pages?

Hello,

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to the website to investigate the issue further.

You can find the required fields below the comments section when you log in to leave the next reply. The information you provide is private, meaning only you and I can see and access it.

IMPORTANT
Please be sure to back up your website and database before granting us access.
If you can't see the "wp-admin / FTP" fields, your post and website credentials will be set to "PUBLIC." DO NOT publish the data unless you see the required wp-admin / FTP fields.

I may need to install a plugin called "All In One WP Migration" to create a copy of the website so I can investigate the issue further.

However, I would also be very grateful if you could provide a staging site or a copy of the website from your server for this purpose.

If you have any questions about creating such a staging site, you can consult your hosting provider. Please note that WPML must also be registered on this staging site at https://wpml.org/account/websites/.

If you are unable to provide such a copy of the website for testing, please let me know on this ticket.

The private reply form looks like this:

Click "I still need assistance" the next time you reply.

Please note that we are required to request this information individually on each ticket. We are not permitted to access any credentials that were not specifically submitted on this ticket using the private response form.

Best regards,
Andreas

Hello,

Thanks for getting back.

Can you please create a staging site so we can safely check the issue further? I will first check issue with you not being able to edit the pages.

You can use WP Staging plugin to create staging site easily.

Hello,

I could have seen the issue, but I could not see any error in the WP log, so not sure what the problem is.

So, I took a copy of your website to further check on my side, and it works fine for me, video:

Can you please check with hosting support for any server log message or similar that could tell us what is wrong? I suspect it is a server configuration/settings causing some problem.

Let me know how it goes.

Drazen

Hello Drazen,

It is really strange. I know that the support at my web hosting could edit backend, using Firefox, but neither the support at Themify or I can edit backend in Chrome and Safari.

I get redirected to an empty page. I have also tried on the staging site, and then I get an error message. I have attached screen shots of both.

And I have contacted the hosting support for server log, and I will return to you as soon as they reply

Regards,

Hanne

Hello Hanne,

Yes, I get the same thing with Chrome on your website and staging.

But as said, weird thing, it works fine on another server that I used for a copy of your website.

Let me know how it goes, and if any information, depending on that,t we will check further.

Regards,
Drazen

Hi again,

I am still waiting for the hosting to reply, but please note, that they allready have looked into the issue a week ago, and they couldn't find any server configuration/settings that sould cause the issue.

What Themify and I have tried is to deactivate WMPL plugin, and then the issue dissapear, so it must be the plugin that is causing the issue.

Are you aware of that?

Best,

Hanne

Hello Hanne,

Yes, it works fine when WPML is disabled, but as said weird thing is that it works fine on another server, as I have shared in my video.

That is why I suspect something is causing this problem. Since it is the same website and it works fine on another server. If it were solely WPML's fault, issue would happen on another server also.

Let's wait for hosting and for server error logs (make sure they check for this), and then we can proceed next.

Regards,
Drazen

Hello,

It is better and not safe to share your hosting panel access. Please check if you can for server error logs, not WordPress error logs, or as said above, contact hosting support.

If possible, you can also try to test your website on another hosting/server to see if it works fine there.

I will wait for an update on the hosting reply.

Regards,
Drazen

I understand.

I have contacted them 2 hours ago, and I am still waiting for reply.

There are several error logs so I am confused. I have attached a screen dump of the latest.
