Problem:
The client had a hard time translating this ACF custom fields.
Solution:
In this particular case he was using repeater fields which need to be set as "Copy" or "Copy once".
- In "WPML > Settings > Custom post types" make sure that 'acf-field-group' are not translatable
- Then in "ACF > Field groups", set your repeater to "Copy" if you want the same options (rows) on your translation or "Copy once" if you want different rows. Set all subfields either to "Copy" or "Translate".
- Go back to the original page and make small changes inside those fields and update the page
- This should be enough to trigger an "update needed" on the translation and get all fields set with the right translation preference.
