I use the WP CLI function wp media regenerate to recreate thumbnails. This function generate thumbnails and update _wp_attachment_metadata with new sizes available. Problem is this only works on original media, not on translated copy that end up with having wrong or missing sizes.

I think WPML should have a way to verify those mismatches on metatdata between translations and originals.
