[Resolved] ACF Fields Locked Due To WPML Translator Issue
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client reported that ACF Arabic fields were locked and could not be edited. This issue was linked to the use of the standard WordPress editor instead of the WPML Translation Editor. Solution: 1. Navigate to ACF -> Field Groups, select the relevant field group, and in the Multilingual Setup section, choose Same fields across languages. Save changes by clicking Update Field Group. 2. Go to WPML -> Translation Dashboard, find the Offer post type, and ensure it is set to be translatable. This allows the ACF fields to be translated. 3. Follow the configuration steps detailed in our guide on translating sites built with ACF.
If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your specific case, please open a new support ticket. We also highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
The site is built using ACF and the English fields are working fine. But the ACF Arabic fields are locked. I have contacted ACF and they have confirmed this is due to the translation plugin issue.
1.- Please share a URL where the issue can be seen.
2.- Also, I kindly ask you to share the access credentials to the site in your next message, which I have set private. This will allow me to reproduce the issue in the URL you shared in the previous point and double-check the WPML configuration.
Confirm you have created a full site backup that you can restore if necessary.
Hi there,
Thank you very much for sharing the information requested
The behavior you are seeing is the expected one, because the Offers post type is set to non-translatable, which means that the ACF values have no post to be translated to.
To change this behavior, you must set the CPT Offers to be translatable, and in their translated version, you should be able to translate the ACF values.
We had done the above steps but still we are seeing the locked fields in the translated page. As we had already shared the credentials, can you try the solution shared above and let us know?
We have tried the possible and suggested solutions from our side. We have given full access to you to the website backend so that you can directly test and solve this. Request you to work on solving this by working on our website backend WPML plugin settings. We need this to be solved ASAP. Pls treat this on top priority.
Thanks Carlos.
Looks like the lock is removed and the issue is resolved.
We will check and update you if any further support is needed. Much appreciated.
The offer lock issue has been resolved in offer and partner posts but now it has been added to image sections of pages. Thats another big issues for us now.
The issue is only with image in pages...its resolved in offer posts. Even though the lock is visible for text fields, we're able to edit and make changes but we're unable to change image.
