This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

Getting 404 error on translated pages (chinese)

Solution:

Set pemalinks to WPML minimum requirements. -Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks. -Remove '/index.php' -Permalink structure would look like '/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/' -Save changes. -Check the Chinese page with 404 error. -Removing 'index.php' is also good for SEO.
