Hi there,

I'm not sure if this is related to my previous issue, see the following support request: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/changes-made-to-original-page-are-being-copied-over-to-translation/

I've since tested the issue from above and that seems to be resolved now.

As for what I'm not sure if it's related, please see the attached screenshot.

This is what I see when I go into the list of Pages from the site's main language (French), referring to the English translations.
The pencil icon says "Edit the En translation" when I hover over it and the circle arrows icon says "Update En translation" when I hover over it.
I only see the circle arrows icons when I'm viewing from the main language, same thing with Elementor templates.

For all of the pages, when I added the translation, I clicked the button to edit them separately, so they should all be separate translations.

Please let me know if this is normal, or a known issue, or if there's a setting somewhere that I need to update/change.

Thanks,
Colton

Hi, thanks for contacting us.

I'm not sure what do you mean with "they should all be separate translations". All translations are posts connected to the original. The circle icon appears when you do some kind of edit on the original page, so WPML tells you something is changed and you need to check.

It's a pretty common scenario so from what you say I don't see anything not working as expected. If this is not clear please provide us with more details.

Hi Laura,

Thanks for the quick response.

If I understand correctly, if there were recent changes on the original side, it gives the round icon instead of the pencil icon.

What I'm saying is that I've chosen to translate the pages separately, so I won't necessarily need to make changes to both languages at the same time and would prefer not to see a round icon, because there aren't necessarily any changes needed to the translation.

Is there any way to turn off this feature that adds these pages to the translation queue?

Thanks,
Colton

Hi,

That's correct - you can see various icons here: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/#how-to-check-the-status-of-translation-jobs

Is there any way to turn off this feature that adds these pages to the translation queue?

Round will appear when you make a change to original but didn't chose "Minor edit", it will appear only when there is pencil sign because if there is a round sign it means that edit has already been done.

Note that translation jobs will always be in Translations or Translation Jobs within Translation management, these will not be deleted once they were completed, but you should not worry about them being listed there.

Bruno Kos
