This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem: I have just added swedish to my site and the attributes break due to wpml adding "-sv" to all the slugs. When i try to remove "-sv" and press save it does not save it.

Solution: There is an errata opened already regarding this issue: https://wpml.org/errata/translated-term-slug-identical-to-the-original-term-slug/

As a workaround I kindly ask you to follow this steps: - Go to Products -> Attributes -> Fit -> Configure Terms -> Change to Swedish terms -> Edit the term -> Remove the suffix from the slug -> Save the changes.

I am going in circles so hope you have a fix 🙂

All WPML plugins are up to date

I am not sure this has been a fix but our memory limit is 128mb: hidden link

Hello,
Thank you for contacting WPML support.

1.- I logged in the site and followed this steps:
- Woocommerce -> Woocommerce Multilingual -> Attributes -> Selected 'Fit' -> Edited the swedish version and removed the '-sv' from the slug -> Saved the changes.

As far as I see the slug was changed correctly. Could you confirm that the issue is solved?

2.- Please don't forget to keep all plugins and themes updated. Outdated functionalities can cause conflicts in the code.

Kind regards,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,

1.) The issue was not solved. No if you check closely you will see that it has in fact not been saved.

It is quite clear from the screencast: hidden link

Everytime I hit save and open the swedish attribute again, the "-sv" is back..

You can see it specificaly on the attribute "FIT" -> "Contemporary fit"

Hi,
Thank you very much for your feedback.

Yes, you are right, the issue persists. After I updated the attribute it seemed it was saved.

I suspect that the cause of the issue is related to the cache memory, however, in order to rule some other possible causes I kindly ask you to:
- Update all outdated plugins and themes to their latest version
- Flush all cache memory
- Double check if the issue persists.

Could you tell me if the result of this steps?

Regards,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,

The app are all up to dato except our theme which is a modified child theme.

However there is a notification saying "SG Optimizer: You website doesn't run on the recommended by SiteGround PHP version. Click here for more details. Click here to hide this notice.".

Could this be the cause?

Hi,

I can't say for sure that this is the cause of the issue, however I recommend you to flush the cache memory, deactivate SG Optimizer plugin and check if the issue persists.

Best regards,
Carlos

That did not work.

Can you tell me why WPML is stated to not be compatible with PHP 7.0/7.1?

Hi,

I just consulted my colleagues about the screenshot you shared, and this test might fil sometimes. Also, the messages are warnings, which means that the functions are deprecated but should still working.

Regarding the original issue of the ticket: I would like to ask your authorization to make a copy of the site in order to make further tests in a local environment without affecting the live site.

Looking forward to your answer.
Best regards,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,

Ok, noted regarding PHP 7.0/7.1. This is also what my developer said.

You are free to make a copy and see if you can replicate the attribute saving bug.

This worked.

Strange workaround and much more time demanding than using the WPML attribution translation tool, but it works now so I am happy 🙂
