Background of the issue:
I am trying to use automatic translation on my site hidden link with WPML. My default language is English.

Symptoms:
I received a message stating that my default language, English, must be mapped to a supported language in order to use automatic translation.

Questions:
How can I map my default language, English, to a supported language for automatic translation?

Hi,

To enable automatic translation using WPML, your default language (English) needs to be mapped to a supported language. In the screenshot you shared, English is not mapped, which is why you're seeing the message.

Here’s what to do:

1. Map English and other active languages:
On the WPML language settings page, use the "Language mapping" dropdown to map:
- English → map to English
- French → map to French
- Do the same for any other languages you'd like to support with automatic translation.

2. Check WPML’s supported language list:
Go to hidden link to see which languages and translation pairs are supported by WPML's automatic translation engine.

3. Make sure automatic translation is available for your language pairs:
Not all combinations are supported, especially with the AI translation engine. You can refer to this image for guidance:

Once the mapping is done correctly, automatic translation should be available for your content.

Let me know if you need help checking the mappings or supported pairs.

Hi there,

Was the site recently moved? Possibly from staging to live? If yes, please share with me the previous URL.

1. Go to WPML->Support->ATE error logs and share with me the top 5 errors

2. Click on the button within that warning "see the communication error details" and share those with me as well
