Hello,

I saw other issue here: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/how-to-allow-html-in-category-descriptions/ and I follow it but no luck.

My issue is when I add a html tag like h1 on the category description at default language(en) it is working fine, but when I add a html tag like h1 on different language(nl) it will not work, it become plain text. [Please see screenshot1.png].

And if I try to changes using Products >> Categories, and add html tags on other language, got an error called " Item not updated. ". and still not working it become plain text. [Please see screenshot2.png]

I also try this method:
by change the line in \wp-content\plugins\sitepress-multilingual-cms\inc\wpml-post-edit-ajax.class.php

$description = filter_var( $_POST['description'], FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING );

to this

$description = $_POST['description'];

but still not fix the problem.

Hope you can help me.

Thank you.

Hi there, thanks for contacting WPML support. This has been submitted as a feature request, but is currently not developed. If the workaround in the ticket you reference is not resolving the issue for you, I can suggest this plugin that was tested a while back on a local site and it seems to work fine with WPML: https://wordpress.org/plugins/visual-term-description-editor/. This plugin gives you a wysiwyg editor instead of the plain text editor when adding the category description. Please keep in mind this was tested with an older version of WPML (reference https://wpml.org/forums/topic/when-i-modify-secondary-language-products-i-lose-tag-and-category-formatting/).

I have added a vote for this feature request for your ticket, and ultimately it will be up to our developers to decide if and when to implement the changes. Please let me know if you need any further assistance and I will be happy to help.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:
https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/

**IMPORTANT**

- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.

- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link

Did you try both changing the WPML code and activating the plugin? Reference: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpml-woocommerce-category-translation-not-copying-html/#post-1533115

I tried to check this for you but there were no FTP credentials provided, so I could not check the WPML edits. Please let me know the results.
