We've disabled WPML. A multi-langingual homepage is no justification for empty categories and a 404 SEO drain.

Nice solution if you only using the plugin for the home page.
We can't disable WPML, Our customer is dependent on the multilanguage. :/

@bruno Kos
Could you give a date that the "fix" will be released?
My customer is allready waiting for 2 months for a fix and there Seo (404) errors are piling up.
I would like to give them a date when this will be fixed.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. The rest of the site was also multilingual. What I mean is that the menu-items were categories, thus giving empty category-pages, thus were already useless.

So we only had the homepage and some pages about contact and such. Almost all products were now hidden..

So our choice was: Keep WPML and have only a multi-lingual homepage and contact page but empty categories – or dump WPML and have a normal functioning site, be it in only one language.

Hi All,

Can you try Version 4.2.5-b.1?
https://wpml.org/download/wpml-multilingual-cms/?section=changelog

But please do not try on production sites first since this is beta only. Also, try an option with No Category Base (WPML) deactivated and permalinks flushed after the plugin upgrade.

Let me know how it goes!

Regards,
Bruno Kos

Sorry, Can't setup a develop/test website right now.
This site is to big to create a develop version easily.

Will wait until the fix is out of beta.
