This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client changed images on the Italian homepage using WP Bakery, but the images reverted to the English versions after a few hours.
Solution:
If you're experiencing this issue, we recommend using the WPML Translation Editor consistently for all translations. Editing a translated page using a different method, like directly through WP Bakery, can lead to issues where changes are not preserved. Instead, to manage different images for different language versions, use the Media Translation plugin by WPML. This ensures that once media items are translated, they remain correctly updated in the translation. For detailed guidance on translating images or using different images per translation, please visit WPML Media Translation documentation.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If issues persist, please open a new support ticket.

Background of the issue:
I have changed the images on the Italian homepage to versions with Italian text by opening the Italian page in WP Bakery, editing the single image, and then saving the page. A warning pops up saying that we have started editing in WP Bakery, a page kept in WPML. URL: hidden link

Symptoms:
Initially, it used the Italian versions. Then after a few hours, it reverted to the English media versions.

Questions:
I understand I can do this as well using WPML media transition tab. Is this practice of editing a translated page via WP Bakery ok?

Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support.

I understand the issue you're having. If you added the translation using the WPML Translation Editor, you should always use the same editor to update or add content. If you make manual changes to the translated page using the WordPress editor instead of the WPML Translation Editor, those changes will be removed when you update the translation again using the WPML Translation Editor.

That's why, we always recommend consistently using one translation method, as mixing methods can cause issues with the translation. This is also why WPML displays a warning when you try to edit a translated page manually if the page was translated using the WPML Translation Editor.

Therefore, the way you're trying to add the image on the translated page is not correct. Since you want to add a different image in the translation, it is better to add them using the Media Translation plugin. Once you have translated the media, the translated item will be properly updated in the translation. For more details on how to translate the images or use different images per translation, please check this documentation: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/media-translation/

I hope you can understand. Please feel free to let me know if you need further clarification or assistance. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit
