I have two websites using 3 domains : 1 website using WPML (german, english) and main site is dutch(without WPML).

I would like to migratie all german/english content to the Dutch website (and install WPML there).
So all posts and updates are on one install

What is the best way to approach this. Export posts etc from the .de/.com and import into the Dutch?
Is there a way to manually assign translated posts to the original Dutch?

Hi there.

The best way to do it would be to use the WP All Import plugin with WPML's bridge plugin WPML All Import. You can read more about it in our documentation here.
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/ There is also an excellent video, so please watch it. To export the content, you would need to use the WP All Export plugin which you can read about here. https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/export-multilingual-websites-using-wp-all-export-wpml/. But please know that those plugins are premium plugins and cost money. Of course that beforehand you would need to install WPML and its add-ons on the Dutch site and configure it to have the Dutch language as the default language and English and German as the other languages.

You can also try to use the WordPress built-in export and import feature. You can read more about it in the WordPress documentation here.
https://codex.wordpress.org/Tools_Export_Screen
https://codex.wordpress.org/Tools_Import_Screen
When you import the pages/posts, you will be able to choose which language they belong to.
Please see the attached screenshot wp--import.jpg.
However, I do not see any option to select an export by language. So you would need to selectively export posts and pages by language (maybe export them by category). Or edit the XML exported file to include only posts in one language.

Once the posts and pages are imported, you can connect them with their Dutch post or page. Please see the attached screenshot connect-with-trans.jpg.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this issue.

Thanks,
Itamar.
