This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem: We want to build a site that will be in English and French. The English site will be: - http://www.sitename.com/en/ And the French will be: - http://www.sitename-fr.com/fr/

As you can see, the URLs are completely different. Is it possible to set up WPML to accommodate this? I'm also wondering how the DNS configuration would need to be set up

Solution: Please visit this link where you will find our official documentation on how to set different domains per language: https://wpml.org/2016/04/use-wpml-different-domains-per-language/

Hi,

We want to build a site that will be in English and French. The English site will be:

hidden link

And the French will be:
hidden link

As you can see, the URLs are completely different. Is it possible to set up WPML to accommodate this? I'm also wondering how the DNS configuration would need to be set up (I'm somewhat familiar with DNS setup, but definitely not an expert!)

Thanks, Carlos. I had seen that guide earlier, but I wanted to make sure that my particular situation would work as well.

In the guide, the example I think I need to follow is the one where it mentions "example.com" and "example.de", correct?

I'm wondering if these instructions would still work if the first part of the domain name ("example") were different in each language, as well. Because in my situation, that first part of the domain name is different, but the top-level domain (".com") is the same:

Hi there,

Yes, the domain name can be completely different. I had tickets with domains like this:
- domain.com
- dominio.es

As you can see they are completely different 🙂

Regards,
Carlos
