Hello Bigul,

I have an idea...

I have a similar website, almost identical to the current website (OceanWP Theme), but created with different theme (Calafate Theme).
I created this website before this new one.
It has the same pages, the same pictures, the same structure.

All is the same, except that the watermark plug-in is not installed in the old website.
This plug-in duplicate my media files when I add a watermark to images (in case I want to restore the original images with not watermark applied)

Let's look at the database size: it's much lower!
The Records are very similar, but not the Data Usage...

Something is wrong in WPML database of the new website (what you have in your hands)
If you want, I can send you the old duplicator website files.

Ok, I did a lot of test in my local installation with my new website,

--------------------------------------------------------------------
--- TEST 01 ---

Initial state:

wp_icl_strings: 14.023, 4.5MB
wp_icl_translate: 24.597, 54MB

I deleted all Pages pages in both language and I optimized the database using WPML tool and with WP-OPTIMIZE Databse tools

wp_icl_strings: 15.745, 4.5MB
wp_icl_translate: 10.437, 18.5MB

I deleted all Portfolio in both language and I optimized the database using WPML tool and with WP-OPTIMIZE

wp_icl_strings: 15.745, 4.5MB
wp_icl_translate: 3.665, 2.5MB

I have the suspect that the problem is Elementor. He creates a looot of "stuff", compared to Calafate and its Advanced Custom field plug-in. Of course, Elementor is more powerful. But this is has a cost.

What's your conclusion?

Ok,
if you delete both languages of "Coro - THE COMPLE GUI" page, you clean WPML and optimize the table, you can remove 25 MB or database... (O_O) . Ok, the page is full of images and text but... Isn't too much?

Similar result obtained by deleting "VRa - THE COMPLE GUI" page.

So, two pages created with Elementor, translated in two languages = 30 MB of database?

Ok, another funny things....

This was the situation in my online website:

wp_icl_strings 14.913 4,5 MiB
wp_icl_translate 21.952 42,5 MiB

After running WP-Optimize 3.1.2 using "Optimizer database Tables", this is the result:

wp_icl_strings 14.913 4,5 MiB
wp_icl_translate 21.063 55,5 MiB

Now, I cannot come back to 42MB...

Why?!

Ok, I did some big progress...

At first, I worked offline and it was a success. This is what I did.
I deleted the two ENG Post, also from the trash.

"Coro - THE COMPLE GUI"
"VRa - THE COMPLE GUI"

Them I re-translate the same pages, from ITA to ENG.
Inside the classic translator editor, I saw the page already translated.
I don't know why, but it was good )
Then with the plug-in Sweep, I "optimize tables"

--- BOOM!----

-30MB

How can be possible?
It's like WPML didn't delete a year of cache...
Of course, I don't want to do the same procedure to all my 50 pages...
These two pages are the most heavy, on which I worked most.

What's your point of view?

Ok,

I did the same procedure to other two pages and I saved 3 MiB...
I think that if I will continue the, wp_icl_translate will be 10 MiB...
This is the actual situation:

wp_icl_strings 14.473 4,5 MiB
wp_icl_translate 13.756 20,5 MiB

Not bad...

But you should tell me if it's possible to avoid this tedious manual process...

Yes, I think you have some problem with cache/database.
I read a lot of thread in this forum, where people had my same problem: wp_icl_translate too big and grow up , up, up...

I have escalated the ticket to our second-tier team for further debugging. We will get back to you as early as possible. Please wait.

The table size is not increasing in my local copy after running the Database optimization using WP-DBManager plugin. The result is the same after translating a few pages. I made few pages like VRay: LA GUIDA COMPLETA & Corona: LA GUIDA COMPLETA and translate it.

Hello Bigul,

yes, but the strange thing is the 55 MB database. How is it possible that, after deleting the two old pages translated and recreated from scratch, I reduced the DB by 25 MB?

Also, if you deleted some other ENG pages (CONTACT, SHIPPING etc..) and recreated , YOu can reduce DB by 3-4 MB...

As I told you, it's like there is some cache that WPML is not able to delete...
