same issue here. WPML Media created thousands of ghost images in the media gallery, which don't exist on the server. Please let me know, how I can clean-up the media folder. Now I hardly can use it anymore. WPML Media srew up the complete media folder!

Thanks for your quick guidance and information, as soon as you solved the bug in WPML Media and provide a tested new version instead askin all your customers the same question. It's not on their installations, but your paid plug-ins are buggy - unfortunately more and more often!

Seems to work. Just out of interest - what exactly did you change? I can see that you installed the Adminer plugin to get access to the database - do I have to keep that one?

Same problem.
Already updated all plugins to latst versions, still cannot delete ghost images from WordPress backend. Surely delete , but after refresh I see all of them again.
In the server, files image files don't exist.
Please help! And too many to delete, one pic will become 2-3 thousands pics. ....crazy

I had this problem until I applied updates to the WPML Media plugin.

@samir - deleting the "ghost" files in the media library is a bit laborious, but can be speeded up by:
1. Set your screen options to display 200 media items at a time in the media library
2. Select 200 items at a time by clicking the checkbox at the top/bottom of the list (you may have to wait for the page to fully load)
3. Choose "Delete Permanaently" from the Bulk actions menu at the top or bottom of the list and click "Apply".
Obviously, make sure any images you want to keep are unchecked(!)

We are having the same problem, which means in fact no new updates are possible.

We need an urgent(!) fix compatible with WP4 and furthermore an instruction how to update from this type of installation.

Support screenshot with versions and Installation is enclosed

Thank you for your kind help in advance.
