VLADISLAV MALTYZOV

Good day,
The problem came out from nowhere - everything worked fine until WPML 4.04 was released and I was asked to set up Media Translation. Our web site is a real estate agency site, the main language is English, we are using exactly the same images for all other languages, there were never any necessity to use Media Translation plugin.
Ok, if you want it, let's go - I was forced to go to WMPL settings page and to set up Media Translation - ticked boxes for Translate Existing Media in all languages, Duplicate existing media for translated content, Duplicate the featured images. Clicked the button Start, Translation Media process started, after some 30 minutes everything was finished. After checking web site, English version works fine, but all other languages do not show images of properties for sale or rent. Checked again and after pushing Start button again I see a message - Duplicate media: please try again (error).
Tried to clean WPML cache doing following:
- Synchronize posts taxonomies
- Clear the cache in WPML
- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables
- Fix element_type collation
- Set language information
- Fix Terms count
- Fix post assignment for translations
Without result.
For sure I can't afford this so I restored web site from backup.
I understand that you will start asking me for Duplicator copy etc. Just a quick question - if anybody faced this problem before and quick solution exists?
Thanks!

Thank you for contacting WPML support. I'll be happy to help you with this.

I have seen similar issues related to plugin conflicts. Please try the following. First, be sure you are now updated to WPML 4.0.5 and make sure you have a full backup of your site.

Then, deactivate non WPML plugins temporarily and switch to a default theme such as Twenty Seventeen. Now, go back to WPML -> Settings and try to run the media sync. Do you still see the error message?

If so, Please enable the WordPress debug log. This will allow us to see if any PHP errors are being produced. More Info: https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress

1. Edit wp-config.php and insert the following lines:

define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );
define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );
define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false );

2. Browse to the page with the issue and/or reproduce the issue.

3. Locate the debug log in: /wp-content/debug.log

4. Paste the latest lines here. No need to paste the entire log file, just 50 lines or so will do. Please censor any sensitive information.

To ensure the quickest and most accurate support, please provide your debug information so that I can get a look at some of your configurations. We have an excellent article on how to located here: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/.

NOTE: Please be sure to check the box to indicate you can provide debug info and paste your debug info in the debug field provided, and NOT in the general response field.

Dear Lauren,

Thank you for the message with instructions. Followed them step by step, everything seems to worked out perfectly from a first glance, WMPL upgraded to 4.05, image translations and duplication went fine with ony one problem - theme widgets required about 1 hour setting up again.
Well, after checking my site I faced one more problem which is considerably grave - it seems that after duplication some images were assigned incorrect id and now they are showed in a wrong order!
Please have a look at the link - hidden link (I'll wait for some time before restoring my web site from a backup, hope it will not take long for you to have a look and see it yourself). I shall attach screenshots of the same house in English and Spanish, please see for the first picture in English and Spanish versions, then I'll open the picture, please see a picture ID for each one. Please believe me that the order of pictures was always the same in all languages before upgrade to 4.05 (I missed 4.04 with intention due to this problem). Now in spanish version the picture which should be the first one has an ID 34 and clearly another picture is shown up as a first picture which is not correct...

To best troubleshoot the issue, please make a snapshot of your site using the Duplicator plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/. This will allow me to try and duplicate the error so that I can run further tests without interrupting your live site.

Once the snapshot is complete, either upload the snapshot ZIP file and the installer.php file to a file sharing service such as Dropbox (and share the link in your reply) or right click the Duplicator links in your wp-admin and paste in your reply.

Please note: It is important to reduce the size of the package so please exclude some paths like /cache or /uploads and also exclude archives and media files.

I will also need the username and password of an account that was created BEFORE creating the duplicator package.

I will enable the next reply to be private so only you and I have access to it!

Already tried to use Duplicator many times in the past, there are mistakes during the build process. For sure I can't remove /uploads/ folder since there are images stored and the mistake with image ID is directly connected with images, how could you check if everything is fine without images? I can only do the database backup with Duplicator, but not files. Is there any other way to make copy of the site without Duplicator? Can I make just an archive zip file of wp-content folder, will it work out?

Try using All In One Migration plugin to create an export. Then, you can upload the file to Google Drive or Dropbox and send me the link. I'll mark the next reply as private.
