Hello,

as you can read in the title, I'm not able to translate the Section background image of Elementor page builder.

I used Media Translator and, a simple Elementor image widget, is translated.
But, not the backgroud.
Is is a bug or is a missing feature?

Thank you =)

Hello,

Thank you for contacting WPML Support.

Do I understand right, that you would need to replace the background with a different one on the translated page? In order to solve this issue I will need to take a look into your site and take a copy for further investigation.

It might also be that the issue can be solved by changing the multilingual content setup at the bottom of the page editor or by applying a custom xml language file configuration to achieve the goal.
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/language-configuration-files/

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated.

You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.

IMPORTANT

Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:

Kind regards
Andreas

Hello Andreas,

I don't want to waste your time. I want to explain you before to send you my Duplicator file.

I know how to use WPML a little bit =) I'm able to translate an entire, complex website.
I know how to use Media translation to translate pictures.

And, I don't know if you know Elementor, but both Image and Gallery widget works very well. You can make your page in English, add some picture with Elementor, use Media translation, translate the page and.. boom! The text and pictures are translated in Italian.

The problem is when you add a picture to the Elementor Section background.
In this situation, WPML is not able to translate the picture.

But.. if I put the same picture inside an Elementor Image widget, you are able to see the translated version.

If you want, I can make you a video... It's 100% replicable.
It's enought that you install Elementor in a new, fresh WP installation.

Hi,

Thank you for your message.

I am familiar with this issue. As I mentioned earlier, it might be that we need to apply a custom XML configuration for this background image, which can be added at WPML -> Settings -> Custom XML Configuration.

I would like to check the issue first on a new installation. I created a website her:

hidden link

Could you please just create the Elementor site Element you are referring to and I will take care about the translation issue.

Kind regards
Andreas

Hello Andreas...

it's so strange that nobody found this bug before me =)

Anyway, look at the website:

(*) I have used the same picture as a Background Section image and Image widget
(*) Only in the Image widget I see the translated image.

So, what do you think?

Thank you

Hello Francesco,

Thank you for your message.

I created a new section with the Elementor FrontEnd Editor and gave it a background. WPML recognized that the page received an update and I translated the page again with the classic WPML translation editor.

The image was translated as expected.

Could you please verify this?

Kind regards
Andreas

Hello Andreas,

it's not translated. The second langiage uses the same, first picture. =)
As you can see in my section (look at the Image widget), the translated picture should have written "second language"

I want different background for every language 😉

Look at the media translation. Are you able to see? ^__^

Hello,

Thank you for your message,

I was able to recreate the issue on the new test site. The section background image is not available in WPML Media and does not appear on the Translation Editor. The issue has been escalated to our compatibility team.

I will keep you update about the process. The next update for WPML Media should solve the issue.

Kind regards
Andreas

Hello,

While our developers are working on a solution for this issue here a possible workaround.

1- Go to the media library in the other language.
2- Get the URL of the translated image.
3- Go to wp-content\uploads\elementor\css and open the CSS file for the translated post.
4- Change the URL of the background-image

I hope this will solve the issue in the meantime.

Kind regards
Andreas
