This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

404 for products in the second language - the shop slug and product base are the same in default language but translated differently

Solution:

This issue is fixed since WooCommerce Multilingual version 4.3.0, so please update WooCommerce Multilingual. If the issue persists, then please open a new ticket in our forum.

Hello,

I am using Avada WP theme and WPML, everything is updated.

I start from a GB website using WPML to translate it in Spanish, pages work fine, woo-commerce category too (hidden link).

1/ My problem is that I can't show up the single translated product pages, I have error 404.
(ex: clic on an item here: hidden link)

2/ I can't change the images of my translated products (screenshot_img).

How to do ? Do I need to :

1/ synchronise product using the setting seen on screenshot_2 ?
2/ chance the setting for "native woo-commerce product" (see screenshot_1) ?

How to do, please help !!

Hi.

I'm still not sure why it is happening on your site, but I can see that you have the Shop page and Product base slugs as the same slug 'ceremony-deposit'.
It might be the source of this problem.
Could you please tell me why do you have it like this?

Also please try to see if the problem persists when the WP Rocket plugin is deactivated after all the cache is purged.
Can you try this?

About my issue with 404 error with translated single product pages, I have changed Shop page and Product base slugs, clean the cache and deactivate WP Rocket : doesn't change anything...same error !

Do you have any idea about what is going on ?
If no, have you got a WPML specialists list to contact, freelancer or not ? I'm ready to pay...

I'll continue to help you with this.
It doesn't seem that the product base and shop base have changed.
The situation is the same like I showed on the screenshot from my first reply.
They are both still ceremony-deposit.
If I go to Settings -> Permalinks and try to set the Product permalink to something else than custom (which it is set now) it always rests to custom for some reason.

Have you noticed this problem?
Can you please go to the shop page and change the slug of it to something different and see if it makes a difference?

Each time you propose me a solution I try it but whenit doesn't fix the bug, I come back to how it was before because I can change my client url for test purpose...for reasons I won't explain here.

So that means that I have already tried to the product base and shop base, and change the shop page 's slug.

No of that changes anything, same problem. I have no cache plunning running and I use private navidation for the tests.

If I tried to summary here are the urls for GB/ES sides:

SHOP PAGE (shows up the 4 product categories)
GB - hidden link
ES - hidden link

PRODUCT CATEGORY (example)
GB - hidden link
ES - hidden link

SINGLE PRODUCT (example)
GB - hidden link
ES - hidden link (ERROR 404)

So yes, with does the spanish single product takes the ceremony-deposit product category (GB) while it's translated by paquete-deposito ?

see screenshots 1 and 2 attached.

Any idea ?

Our second tier supporter asks if you can try to re-save the permalinks in Settings -> Permalinks and see if it helps to solve the problem.

Hello,

That doesn't change anything and I have now a new bug, plus the first one :

When I clic on "pago de la ceremonia del paquete" on this page (hidden link), that shows up the image of the product category and doesn't link to the products list of that category.

So that makes 11 days that your support consists in "try this" , "try that" ...and nothing works.

Sorry guys but what kind of support is that ? You don't have any idea of the problem...
When you ask us to make a package backup, using a certain plugin and all that, that would say 2 things:

- you will log in the website to try to solve the bug (that's what we call support)
- you are afraid to give bad advices on what to do, you won't take any risk

SO, we are in the second case with my problem.

I HAVE 7clients using WPML because I have instaled it. It's my everyday job to build wordpress websites. I guarantee that I will look for another solution to translate these clients and all my clients in futur, if we don't finaly solve that bug...because that would say that you are for no help at all.

SO that said, ARE YOU OR NOT able to give a real support solution to fix these bugs ????

On my side, I'll continue to give you the best support that I can give.

I'm still in contact with my superiors on this issue.
Our third tier supporter has asked me to try and see if this issue persists with the beta version of WooCommerce Multilingual which is available here.

In our internal documentation, I can see an issue similar that what you get when custom product base is used.

I've made a copy of your site and will test it locally and get back to your here on this issue.

As for the other issue that you bring, when I try what you say I think that I get the list as expected. Please see attached screenshot.
Is it fixed already?
If not can you add a screenshot of what you see?

Thank you for you answer and the good news that you have identify a similar bug, that's the begining of the solution I hope.

Please understand that it is a very big problem for me because the shop is not accessible for Spanish customers, and April/Mai is the highest buying period + I have 43 erors 404 generated by this bug which is very very bad for my SEO.

Second bug listed is solved, I don't know if you did something, in private navigation that was not working yesterday...Thanks.

I've debugged this issue with your site's snapshot on my local server.
I have no solution for the issue, and therefore I'm escalating it to my superiors.
Nevertheless, I have found a workaround that fixes the single products 404 problems in the Spanish language.
If the product base is set to the default (/product/), then the single products in the Spanish language are shown and not resolving into 404.
Please see attached screenshot.
I do not know if this workaround is good for you in terms of SEO but that is what I can offer now while our second tier supporter checks this issue.

In any case, we will keep you updated here.

Thank you, that is a good fix for the moment.
Just to let you know and have the full informations, I have updated WPML this morning, like wordpress proposed to me, before to set the fix, and that didn't solve the problem.

Maybe this could help to identify what is going wrong :

I have a new bug since you ask me to change the permalink structure.
The "new order" email sent by woo-commerce seems not able to use the customer's informations.

The emails that I receive are titled: [{site_title}] New customer order ({order_number}) - {order_date} without the correct datas inside...that was working fine before...

The new issue that you are having is not related to the original issue of this ticket and is not a consequence of the permalink change. It is a known issue to us that has appeared in WooCommerce Multilingual version 4.2.10 (current version). We have an errata page about it, and there is a workaround that temporarily fixes this problem. Please read the errata page at the following link and see if the workaround fixes the email issue on your site.
