I am trying to:
Show the flags in the header language switcher of my Imprezza theme which is WPML compatible.

Have you set-up the options to show flags for the language switcher in WPML > Languages ?
Do you know if the theme supports language flag at this location?
Have you made any customizations to the theme?

Hi there,

Yes I did, in the preview it shows fine, there is no customization and the theme is WPML compatible.
I also tried to disable al other plugins but that didn't work.

I think that this might be a problem with your theme, because WPML does not provide the function to show the language switcher in that way.
Perhaps you could check your theme options if there is an option for flag.

I tested it with default Twenty Fourteen there and there is no header-option.

My theme gives the options to project the WPML widget in the header, so I assumed it has to be with flags, but it ain't. I'll contact the theme-makers.
