Admin pages are polluted with a non-hideable WPML error.

"WPML Update is Incomplete
You are running updated sitepress-multilingual-cms, but the following component is not updated:

wpml-media-translation
wpml-string-translation
wpml-translation-management"

I did a network-level plugin update for all WPML plugins - still the error shows. So then I deleted all plugins from the filesystem and downloaded directly from WPML using wget. This hasn't fixed the issue.

I've also tried purging WP Rocket's OPcache, our Redis Object Cache and WPML's cache via the troubleshooting page, but no luck. The message still appears and is not hideable to make matters worse.

Plugin versions:

wp plugin status | grep wpml
N wpml-media-translation 2.3.2
N wpml-string-translation 2.8.2
N wpml-translation-management 2.6.2
I wpml-widgets 1.0.6

$ wp plugin status | grep sitepress
N sitepress-multilingual-cms 4.0.2

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML Support. I can not access your site because of authentication required, you can send us username and password to access the site.

Update manually every WPML plugin with the latest ones downloaded from your account page. Then don't forget to clean the browser and server cache, as this sometimes happens due to cache.

To do a manual update please follow these steps:

1. Backup your database – see for example: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-db-backup/

2. Deactivate the existing WPML plugin and add-ons.

3. Delete the plugin files – this does not delete your translations. You will simply delete the plugin files from your "wp-content/plugins" folder, NOT the database records.

4. Download the updated plugins from our servers (https://wpml.org/account/downloads/) and upload them to the plugin directory.

5. Activate the WPML plugin and add-ons.

- We have another user who was able to solve the same issue like this (Summary at top):
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/im-getting-this-message-wpml-update-is-incomplete/

Thank you

Thanks. I did delete the plugin folders from the filesystem and upload the latest versions. What I hadn't done was deactivate/reactivate the plugins. With that step, the issue was solved.
