This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You've added Hindi as a language through WPML's Add Language option and are trying to enable automatic translation for Hindi. However, you encounter an error stating: 'The following target languages do not support automatic translations: Hindi. To enable automatic translation map them to known languages.' Despite mapping it to Hindi, the settings are not saved.
Solution:
This issue occurs when the translation engines that support Hindi are disabled. We recommend visiting this link to find which translation engines support Hindi and then activate them in WPML -> Settings.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Why are the settings for mapping Hindi to a known language not being saved?
How can I enable automatic translation for Hindi in WPML?

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us

This behavior happens when the translation engines that support Hindi are disabled. Please visit this link: hidden link, where you will find which translation engines support Hindi and activate them in WPML -> Settings.

Can you confirm that the issue was solved?
Regards,
Carlos
