Hello,

I'm using a directory plugin on this website where we have listings of birth assistants hidden link

I'm trying to add translations e.g. for the birth assistant categories which are 'Certified Doulas' and 'Student Doulas'. However I can't find where to add the translations. The words are not appearing in the 'string translation' section of WPML and there's no option for me to manually add a string. Please tell me how I should add a translation for this.

Thanks
Nina

Hi and thank you for contacting WPML Support!

I will be happy to help you with this.

Can you please let me know if you can find those strings in WPML > Taxonomy Translation?

Here is more information for that:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-post-categories-and-custom-taxonomies/

Please let me know.

If it's not there, I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:
https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/

**IMPORTANT**

- Please make a backup of the site files and database before providing us access.

- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box.

The private box looks like this: hidden link

I will be waiting for your response.

Kind regards,
Mihai Apetrei

Hi.

Can you please let me know if the plugin that you are using to create the directories is called "Simple Business Directory - Pro"?

If that's the plugin, can you please let me know what were the exact steps that you took to create the directories so that I can better understand how that works (I have never worked with this plugin before)?

Please let me know.

I will be waiting for your response.

Kind regards,
Mihai

Hello

I had to add list names and list categories. Then a 'shortcut' code is available to embed one of the lists into a standard page. When you look at the list on the front end of the site, you can use category filters to filter the list.

Thanks

Hi and thank you for your answer!

I want to thank you very much for your patience and I want to let you know that I am still investigating on this.

This is a pretty weird issue happening and it takes longer than I expected to debug it.

Thank you for all your patience throughout this process and I hope that tomorrow I will be able to get back to you with an answer.

I am still leaving the ticket assigned to myself.

Kind regards,
Mihai

Hi.

Your patience has been amazing so thank you for waiting.

It seems that the plugin is written correctly and it is translatable with WPML.

The issue that was not allowing us to see and translate the list categories was that we had to first go to WPML > Settings > Taxonomies Translation > "List Categories (pd_cat)" was set to "Not translatable" so I set it to "Translatable - use translation if available or fallback to default language" (I will also attach a screenshot so that you can see what I am referring to).

Now, if you go to WPML > Taxonomy translation (hidden link), and where you see "Select the taxonomy to translate:" in the dropdown select "List categories" and then click the "+" to translate into French.

Please let me know if it works now 🙂

Kind regards,
Mihai
